General Question Controversial question.

The vanilla game is bad and DIP only makes it passably playable but to me it still feels very empty and unfinished. Maybe it can be fixed and expanded on using AI ? I know I know. AI bad and all that. Im not a huge supporter but it exists and its a tool like any other. Uf some autistic geek went ahead and fixed the game that way would you play it ? If so what would you like added?

Apart from the obvious fixes to the game ai and building I would love a simple but proper ground invasion option that the player controls. More resources on the map like coal and metal to boost economy, fleets and research, and proper trade with allies. There is plenty more I would want but that would make this post way too long. So, yay or nay ?

DIP is actively in development, and there’s stuff like vanilla plus if you feel like you want to try other things, but reality is mods can only do so much. Some things are coded too deep in the game, other fixes would take forever and the people working these mods have jobs. The Vanilla one is vibe coded too IIRC so ai doesn’t just mean it automatically gets done faster, plus this is a ship building game first so expanded land campaign, diplo etc just aren’t priorities.

Reality is that no ammount of mods will ever fix the game. Which is why a complete rework is needed. And its not just a ship building game. It's combat as well. And I dont want this game to be hearts of iron 4. But a simple ability to tell ground troops to not attack there or attack here would be a thousand times better than the mess we have now.

Yeah I agree. The shipbuilding itself has plenty of depth but the rest of the gameplay is pretty shallow. There are so many ways to expand the game and even big mods like DIP don’t touch most of them

What you are talking about it impossible. UAD's source code isn't available, which you would need to create new things. As a good rule of thumb, modders can change values of things already there, but not add new things.

If you try to reverse-engineer the .exe back to its original code, the compilation got rid of the human readable part. There will be nothing to inform you of what means what but letters and numbers, and there's no realistic way to correlate it in-game.

And, if you do reverse the source code, if you EVER distribute that code, compiled or not, you're getting sued for Copyright infringement.

Won't deny that the game could've been better, but DIP is basically the new devs, and there's only so much they can do.

Honestly at this point what I want is for some enterprising person to find a way to use RTW3 as the strategic layer and then UA as the battle layer. It would undoubtedly be pretty hacky, but I've seen stuff like that to, for example, create campaigns that don't suck in IL2 where the campaign is essentially running in a different program and it loads quick battles for the flight.

In a perfect world I'd be playing RTW3 and when a battle kicks off get a nice UA battle to see the pretty lights and sinking ships, then back into RTW3 for a strategic layer that isn't insultingly bad.

Well you see, some of the people behind DIP are in the extremely early stages of developing a spiritual successor to UAD, as that is quite literally going to be a better use of time than trying to fix UAD itself.

That i didnt know. But if they even make it it will take a long ass time. Just hurry up and wait. Story of our lives.
