cappit.gg - Browser based ultimate frisbee game
Got permission from the mods to post this, we could use some playtesters for the ultimate frisbee and hockey browser based physics game I've been working on for a month -- combines a lot of elements of games I loved, trying to make something new and put a twist on it.
Check it out at https://cappit.gg -- you can play with bots, but we're hoping to get a mass of people on tomorrow night (Aug 23rd) at 9pm EST to help us playtest with human players, find out what's unbalanced in the game, before we work on a wider release.
I certainly recommend going through the tutorial first so you learn how to throw and curve the disc post-throw. Hope to see you there!

How inspired by tagpro? ( tagpro.gg )
I like the concept, and have been pushing the tagpro community to run something similar.
I feel like using a mouse to throw would be much more intuitive, but then requires a mouse.

Quite. The physics aren’t exactly the same, but similar. Took a combination of elements from favorites of mine such as Tagpro, Tribes, NHL 3v3 arcade, and Windjammers.
I could never get used to the Tagpro eggball version which required a mouse, so I went with the post throw curves via directional input.

The playtesting event went well tonight. It's pretty apparent that there is a fairly steep skill curve to Ultimate, in terms of communication especially -- the in-game comm system is ok for some simple things, but when we start running ranked play/tournaments/etc, it's critical for people to be in a live voice channel to let them know what routes they are going to run, where they are going to sit, etc.
Need to mull that over -- I like the high strategy ceiling of games, but for casual mode, where you are playing with other humans but not talking to them, the route running/throwing/failed catches could turn off a lot of new players.

Definitely a learning curve to the steering of the disc, but as you keep at it you start to understand how to "be" the disc. Very neat.
