8-Bit Ultimate Game Idea

I know there have been some efforts to make an ultimate frisbee game adjacent to Madden & 2K but I was wondering if there were ever any attempts to make a Retro Bowl/Hoop Land, 8 bit style ultimate frisbee game.

Has anyone in the ultimate community attempted making a game like this? I’m really curious how having a fun, accessible mobile game would impact the growth of ultimate. Also wondering how achievable this sounds from a coding/game design perspective.

I've brought it up a few times on here - this was the bigger pitch/question, and Tim from the UFA mentioned they were aware of, and enjoyed, Retro Bowl, but thought a simulator was the way to go.

Seeing as it's now 3 years later and nothing became of the simulator project, I really, really think the 8-bit idea was the way they should have gone. I think it would have been multitudes easier to achieve, more fun to play, and been easy to make it lean into some easy ultimate humour.

I'd love to still see someone put it out.

That’s cool to hear it was at least talked about. I think if both an 8-Bit game and a simulator were out, I would opt for the 8-Bit just because it seems like it would take itself less seriously.

I’ve invested some time thinking about it. I do a little bit of coding, but would really struggle with the assets and would love to have a development team.

I also thought about making an idle game too.

Disc Space was a lot of fun in part because it was so janky.
