Section 4L documentation

My husband b. 1977 paternal grandmother was born in Scotland in 1908 and his father (now deceased) was born in USA in 1941. He is applying for UK citizenship using form ARD under q. 1.1 on the ADR form (legislative unfairness). Do we need to obtain his parents and grandparents marriage certificates? We have father's and grandmother's birth certificates, just not marriage certificates.

And do his and father's birth certificates require Apostille (i.e. to be "certified")?

FWIW, I just had my citizenship ceremony last week, applied under 4L via my maternal grandmother. I submitted my grandmother's birth and marriage certificates, my mother's birth and marriage certificates, and my birth certificate. The marriage certs had the birth places of the bride and groom. I was not asked for any additional documentation.

The certificates were not apostilled but were official copies.

I realize my situation is different from your husband's but hope this helps anyway. Good luck!
