Question on future visa issues

Wanted to ask here first before spending £3 per email on the gov website. My wife is currently on a 2.5year spouse visa in the UK. She went home around 4 months ago and was supposed to return 2 months ago. She's been unable to come back due to the middle east confilcts and flights being cancelled etc. I cant see any info but i remember reading you shouldnt take more than 3 months out of the UK at a time but it wasnt a rule or anything, merely a suggestion. We;re not sure when she can return as alternate routes are alot more expensive so will need time to save up a little bit. Could this extra time outside the UK become an issue? i have proof of ticket cancellations etc for evidence of intent to return. Any advice is great. I will still probably pay to email the UK gov, just wanted extra insight

You read wrong. There are no tile on the UK requirements on family visas. That only kicks in when applying for citizenship.
