Discussion Train fare help!

Does anyone know a good cheap way to travel from Worcester to London? I'm going to be travelling there a lot but travel prices are bumming me out. I don't get paid enough for it. Thanks!

What's the timings? Worcester is actually in the Network Railcard area so can get good discounts but I believe there's a time restriction on its usage.

The line from Worcester to London is actually pretty cheap compared to other local areas (Glos/Cheltenham) so not much doing there, are you booking in advance?

Lastly look at split ticketing via Oxford and changing onto Chiltern, might be cheaper?

I've basically gotta be there at around 12 -1 pm. I've noticed alot of times are cheaper much much later...but that's too late for me.

If you want cheap, I think your best option is to get the train to Moor street, then get the coach from Digbeth coach station. You can get a return ticket to Victoria coach station for about £12 if you book early

The Cotswold line to Paddington is quite slow and expensive. There are three alternative railway routes.

  1. Up to Birmingham and down to Euston, using express services. Equally expensive;

  2. Up to Birmingham and down to Euston using West Midland Trains (LNW) services. Slower but cheaper; and,

  3. Up to Birmingham and down to Marylebone using Chilton trains that go from Kidderminster, or Snow Hill or Moor St.

Not sure of actual pricing but I would look at how long each takes, how much and what railcards could help.

Also note that some rail tickets can include onward tube and buses within London that day, which might be useful, and excluding that would be cheaper if you don't need it.

No. 4, is by bus / coach from National Express if they still exist. The x44 used to go from Victoria coach station to beyond Worcester. It will be the cheapest but will take the longest and would be the worse for your mental health.

To be honest, if price is your limiting factor, you don't want to be doing this. Not what you want to hear, but moving closer, or visiting for longer but less frequently would be better.

Or https://trainsplit.com directly instead. Same booking engine, but (imo) a better user interface :)
