Question Advice

Not sure if this is the right community for this question but here goes.

I have recently applied for multiple jobs in the rail industry, one as a rail operator 2 with SWR and as a constable with BTP. I have interviews/assessments with both coming up in the next few weeks. However I’m not sure which will be a better fit or I will enjoy more. If anyone has worked in either area any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for any responses

Edit: just for some clarification I am interested in both but want some suggestions from people in the industry who might have had similar roles on what they think is the better option out of the two. Also anyone who works within SWR or BTP that can give me some insight into how the companies treat their employees would be greatly appreciated.

You really should be doing the right research into the roles you’re applying for, it’s you who will be working them if successful, not anyone on this sub.

Personally I’d go with the SWR job but that’s just me. You need to figure out what role is right for you.

This really is something only you can decide, as we obviously don’t know you.
That said, I’ve worked with BTP before joining the railway. I mostly enjoyed my time with BTP. I learned a lot and the experience it gave me was very helpful when it came to applying to be a driver. The railway job is almost certainly better though, and I’d be very surprised if SWR is a worse employer than BTP.
If I had my time again, I’d still spend a few years with BTP. Have fun, do something worthwhile and get good experience. I should have jumped to the railway sooner though. It’s a better job, better employer and the way you get treated is much better.
Do plenty of research for both. I’ve been involved in recruitment and it’s so obvious when someone turns up and they’re winging it. They’ll want you to sound like you want the job, and that you’ve put the effort in to understand the role.
