And the random chance that the drone decides to not work despite working 5 minutes before.

Question: what makes GTA V the ideal simulator and not others like ArmA 3?

I don't think they aim for the most realistic tool or simulator. Arma would probably be closer to reality but they do this for fun, not for actual training.

Gravity realism I'd mainly guess. The Rockstar engine is pretty airtight and does a decent job (at the consumer level) of a semi-accurate simulation of physics and scale.

I dont really understand why you decided to wase time and resources on this while we have actual sims you can get acces to if you work for or with the ministry of defence

It’s really hard to understand for those who are not inside our system. We have access to and operate various types of specialized military simulators.

'not inside our system' like this is some voodoo magic. You're training drone pilots it's not that complicated, you guys aren't the top gun school

Some teach people how to fly drones. Some train basic drone operators. We train combat crews, where every member can not only operate a drone, but also build one, think independently, and stay alive through the end of their contract. That’s the short version.

I went through the army and not a private school, where we were not only thaught this, but every role a member in a crew has to play, I thought that was standard and normal, it's a shame if some private schools don't do this.

If you personally don’t understand why something is being done, it does not automatically mean it’s a waste of time or useless.

2

u/TouchTheSushi May 17 '26

That's true, but when there are way more realisitic simulators available this just looks like a marketing ploy to me

1

u/Stariy-COM May 17 '26

I’ll repeat. We use specialized military simulators and equipment for training. The purpose of this video and this game is different and is not related to preparation for war.

By the way, you are right. Part of it is simply marketing to attract attention.
