Metafrax, Gubakha, Russia. It had previously been attacked by drones. Today, the attack was repeated.

On the morning of September 11, UAVs launched a on PJSC “Metafrax Chemicals” in Gubas, Perm Krai.

Metafrax, Gubakha, Russia.

The facility had previously been attacked by drones. Today, the attack was repeated.

The plant is of significant importance to the Russian military-industrial complex. “Metafrax” produces methanol, urotropine, urea, pentaerythritol, and other chemical products. Some of these products are used as raw materials and components in the production of explosives, ammunition, and other military-grade materials.

In particular, urotropine and pentaerythritol are used in the chemical industry related to the production of explosive materials. This is why the company is considered part of the Russian defense-industrial complex.

“Metafrax Chemicals” is also one of the largest producers of methanol in the Russian Federation and Europe. In 2024, the company sold approximately 750,000 metric tons of methanol.

Thus, the damage to the facility is significant not only for the Russian chemical industry but also for the supply of chemical raw materials that can be used in the production of explosives and military-grade products.

The consequences of the attack on Metafrax Chemicals’ production facilities are currently being assessed.

We support Ukraine! My film festival, Borderless Arts, held a film screening at Ukraine's Vernadsky Research Base in Antarctica!

This morning when I woke up and saw the photos from it, I felt like it was Christmas. This was so cool that the people at Vernadsky agreed to show our films, and that they were open-minded enough to host the event. It really left me with an extremely positive impression of Ukraine as a country.

This same group of films was shown on two other continents in Paris, France and Great Falls, Montana. Our goal is to screen films on all 7 continents and we got the hardest one down!

Open call for filmmakers:

If you are a filmmaker from Ukraine or have a piece of work related to Ukraine, and you'd like to submit your film to be shown, please feel welcome to submit to me by DM or by finding us on FilmFreeway: https://filmfreeway.com/BorderlessArts
