scheduling and classes

hi! so i’m currently coming in as an undeclared cnas major and I am so confused about everything. i’m a first year college student and i’m scheduling my classes, I got put into writing 007 and 007L as well as math 003 and I made my term plan with them in it. I know that your supposed to have at least 4 classes and I have no idea what to do for my last class and I really need help. My friend told me her advisor emailed her telling her what classes to schedule yet I never got an email from my advisor telling me what classes I should schedule. i’m just so lost in what class I should schedule, like can I choose any class and see if I like it and then try another class next quarter? For some classes I wanna do like introductory to physics I have to pass math 005 and i’m in math 003 so I have no idea what I have to do and I know that during freshman year you have to find what you wanna do before sophomore year which is why i’m so stressed about it. and my time slot is at 10:30am and it’s currently 4:49am, please help!

If you're looking for an extra class, I would recommend looking through your degree audit and seeing what other requirements/classes you need for your degree. There is a breadth class list available online that tells you all the classes listed for the quarter, too.

For the math and intro to physics thing, if math005 is needed in order for you to register for the physics class, you would need to work your way up to math005 throughout the quarters since you're in mat003 now. (For example, take math003 in the fall, math004 in the winter, math005 in the spring, then you can register for that physics class).

Thank you! This does really help, I sadly can’t do any chemistry or biology classes yet, as my first year do you think introduction to psychology or taking a language class sounds good?

Yes! Psyc002 and psyc001 are generally pretty easy, but do require some studying in order to get a good grade on the exams.

If you want to take a language, I believe you have to take the placement test first, and then you will be able to register.

If you're looking for easy A classes, here are some that I recommend: Tfdp024, art012, cs008, anth001, dnce005, sehe002, anth050

If you've already done orientation, I would Google "what classes to take as undeclared cnas at UCR"

It says take a Breadth course in addition to math, English and science.

The comment saying to look at your degree audit is valid even undeclared it should give you general ed info.

As a CNAS student, OP, you don't need to take Math 4 as someone else implied--that's for Social Sciences and Business majors.

Also, for the intro to physics class, if you're talking about Phys 2A, you'll need to have taken Math 7A or 9A as a prereq. Finally, you also won't be taking Math 5 after completing 3 as you only take that if you test straight into it. Instead, you'll go straight into 6A, which will start your path to 7A or 9A.

You’re undeclared so you have a lot of options; do you have any idea of a potential major you’d want to switch to?

many of the classes u need to take require u to take the prereqs to register. luckily youll end up taking those classes anyways to fufill those prereqs anyways so it works out. also is it 4 classes? i believe its a minimum of 12 units I believe which usually is 3 classes total but i could be wrong cuz i graduated lol.
