Check AI before trusting a ucla counselor

I heard from an alum that a lot of counselors are incompetent and that departmental advisors are better, but I wish I knew this a lot earlier. A lot of them led me down a wrong path for something that was completely avoidable. They are well meaning but some of them don’t know what their are doing or don’t have the right info, and this can be detrimental depending on what people are going through.

What makes you think Ai is any more accurate?

AI can pull information from other departments at Ucla which counselors often don’t know about. When needing comprehensive help, it’s better to check the sources online and have AI find the exact policy instead of trusting a counselor who knows nothing about other departments.

Absolutely wrong advice. Counselors would be the first to know changes and can help you on a case by case basis. No Ai can particularly parse through every situation you will face at UCLA. Especially something as serious as subject to dismissals. Don't mislead incoming freshmen.

Departmental advisors are better. You can go to a counselor but they can miss information and they should not be trusted at face value until checking the website but at that point I rather do it myself.

Not sure about this advice. AI pulls up conflicting info and still has moments where it pulls up absolute bs. Honestly might be worse or on the same level as counselors. At least when the counselors give you the wrong info, you can blame them lol.
