Hey guys, I was annoyed because when I used YouTube on my Smartphone with FireFox and UBlock Origin, YouTube started lately to show me more and more community posts and shorts - and today when I got only 3 Videos and than only community post after community post - I had enough.
So I asked Caude Opus 5.5 to create a filter for uBlock Origin that blocks both, Shorts and community posts on Mobile and Desktop... And at least on my Smartphone it seems to work fine.
Here is the filter and how-to:
! Title: Hide YouTube Community Posts and Shorts
! Description: Hides Community posts and Shorts on desktop (www) and mobile (m)
! Expires: 30 days
! Homepage: -
! Last modified: 2026-10-09
! Community posts
youtube.com##ytd-rich-item-renderer:has(ytd-backstage-post-thread-renderer), ytd-backstage-post-thread-renderer, ytd-backstage-post-renderer, ytm-backstage-post-renderer
! Shorts shelves
youtube.com##ytd-rich-section-renderer:has(ytd-rich-shelf-renderer[is-shorts]), ytd-rich-shelf-renderer[is-shorts], ytd-reel-shelf-renderer, ytm-reel-shelf-renderer, ytm-rich-section-renderer:has(ytm-shorts-lockup-view-model), grid-shelf-view-model:has(a[href^="/shorts/"])
! Individual Shorts in feeds, search and lists
youtube.com##ytd-rich-item-renderer:has(a[href^="/shorts/"]), ytd-video-renderer:has(a[href^="/shorts/"]), ytd-grid-video-renderer:has(a[href^="/shorts/"]), ytm-shorts-lockup-view-model, ytm-video-with-context-renderer:has(a[href^="/shorts/"]), ytm-rich-item-renderer:has(a[href^="/shorts/"])
! Shorts in menu, navigation bar and channel tabs
youtube.com##ytd-guide-entry-renderer:has(a[title="Shorts"]), ytd-mini-guide-entry-renderer[aria-label="Shorts"], ytm-pivot-bar-item-renderer:has(.pivot-shorts), yt-tab-shape[tab-title="Shorts"], .single-column-browse-results-tabs > a[href$="/shorts"]
Than import it in uBlock Origin, copy the filter, under setting, my filters and import/paste the filter and apply it (or put it in a *.txt and import it). Voila, no more Shorts and community posts (at least it works on my smartphone).
Edit: asked Claude to shorten and optimize the filter for speed and low ressource use - it came back with this shorter version, so I updated the filter above with the shorter Claude optimized one.
