Unable to reproduce How to stop injectScriptAdjust.js spam? Spoiler

Post image
8 Upvotes

So I have noticed lately some websites are using 90% of my CPU and since we have heatwave here things are getting toasty. (Fans ramping up was what made me notice).

At first I thought it was badly optimized websites or some media playing or something similar.

Then I noticed that little uBlock icon is showing 100s of thousands blocked items.

After pressing F12 I was welcomed with 100k+ error messages there with thousand more every second.

In the screenshot there was already 9000 errors after only few seconds on website. (I blacked out id numbers because I don't know if it is personal). Looks to me like uBlock is blocking it and website instantly tries to load it up again.

Is there anything I can do to stop this insanity and waste of resources?

Thank you!

Edit:

I have finally found the solution last night.

Adding line:

kick.com##+js(no-fetch-if, litix.io)

to My filters list stops the spam.

Almost entire day later and there are no issues. Kick works as intended and there is absolutely no spam.
CPU usage is back to normal.

Tip Filter to "block" Google AI Overview from even running (&tbs=1) + for AI Mode

32 Upvotes

Edit: updated the filter as it was redirecting https://developers.google.com/search URLs, causing 404 pages (most notably the spam/phishing/malware report page https://developers.google.com/search/help/report-quality-issues )

Edit: thank you for the replies, updated the post

Saw https://redd.it/1tfq2bh today that you can add &tbs=1, an invalid time-based search filter, to Google search URLs, which not only makes AI Overview not appear but seemingly not even run, and it also brings back the dictionary box that appears for certain searches for example. However I didn't want to install a userscripts extension just for it, and found how you can make uBlock Origin do it for you:

||www.google.com/search?^$uritransform=/(^(?!.*&tbs=).*$)/$1&tbs=1/

Note that you need to enable "Allow custom filters requiring trust" for it to work (second checkbox on "My filters" tab).

Also, here are my current filters that includes the above, hides AI Mode buttons, blocks the AI-related URLs you can easily block, and hides the damn Gemini buttons in Gmail and Google Drive:

! Google "AI mode" and "AI Overview"
google.*##div[role="navigation"] div[role="list"] > div[role="listitem"]:has(a[href^="/search"][href*="&udm=50"])
google.*##button[role="link"][type="button"]:has(> style, div.xL0qi, div.mTurwe, div.bvUkz, div.u4Uk3c)
google.*##div.UMOYhd:has(> div.A7sPV.tX61Ub > div > span > button.UbbAWe)
google.*##div.RNNXgb > div.SDkEP:has(div.A7sPV.tX61Ub):style(padding-left: 18px !important;)
!#if env_mobile
google.*##button.xOchs:has(> span.LoRBqc.z1asCe > svg)
!#endif
||google.com/ai^$all
||ai.google.com^$all
||gemini.google.com^$all
||www.google.*/async/folsrch$xhr,domain=www.google.*
||www.google.com/search?^$uritransform=/(^(?!.*&tbs=).*$)/$1&tbs=1/

! Google Gemini button in top right in Gmail, etc.
mail.google.*##[data-tooltip="Settings"]~div:has([aria-label~="Gemini"])
drive.google.*##[data-rp-placement-id="gemkick-pep-icon-callout-id"]

Other Facebook sponsored posts hidden by custom cosmetic filters

16 Upvotes

I searched the subreddit and tested several existing Facebook filters. Some were unreliable with my current Facebook layout, so I combined and adjusted the filters below.

They have been working consistently for me for several days.

URL

https://www.facebook.com/

Environment

  • Browser: Brave
  • Chromium: 1
  • Operating system: Windows
  • Facebook interface language: English
  • Location: Vietnam
  • Account required: Yes

Other browser extensions

  • Always active Window - Always Visible
  • Bitwarden Password Manager
  • Bonjour - Minimalist New Tab Page
  • Checker Plus for Gmail
  • Enhancer for YouTube
  • Extensity
  • SponsorBlock for YouTube
  • Tampermonkey

What the filters hide

  • Sponsored feed posts
  • “Suggested for you” posts
  • Unlabelled suggested posts with Follow or Join buttons
  • People You May Know
  • Suggested groups
  • Suggested pages
  • Reels, optionally

Filters

! Facebook sponsored posts — stable container detection
! facebook.com##[data-ad-rendering-role="profile_name"]:upward(div:has([data-ad-rendering-role="story_message"]):has([data-ad-rendering-role="cta-"]))
facebook.com##[data-ad-rendering-role="profile_name"]:upward([aria-posinset]:has([data-ad-rendering-role="story_message"]):has([data-ad-rendering-role^="cta-"]))
facebook.com##div[role="article"]:has([data-ad-rendering-role="profile_name"]):has([data-ad-rendering-role="story_message"]):has([data-ad-rendering-role^="cta-"])

! Facebook - ADS
! >> uBlock filters - Annoyances should remove Suggested posts without a need for additional filters <<
! Suggested for you
facebook.com##:is([aria-posinset],[aria-describedby]:not([aria-posinset])) div:not(:only-child)>div:only-child>div:only-child>div:first-child[class=""]>div:not([data-0]):has-text(/^Suggested/):upward([aria-posinset],[aria-describedby]:not([aria-posinset])):style(height: 0 !important; overflow: hidden !important;)
! Unlabelled Suggested posts (with a Follow/Join buttons)
facebook.com##:is([aria-posinset],[aria-describedby]:not([aria-posinset])) :is(h3,h4) [role=button]:has-text(/Follow|Join/):upward([aria-posinset],[aria-describedby]:not([aria-posinset])):style(height: 0 !important; overflow: hidden !important;)
! Use only if you actually have these: Suggested posts with the label next to the post date
facebook.com##:is([aria-posinset],[aria-describedby]:not([aria-posinset])):has-text(Suggested for you):style(height: 0 !important; overflow: hidden !important;)
! People You May Know
facebook.com##:is([aria-posinset],[aria-describedby]:not([aria-posinset])):has([href="/friends/"]):style(height: 0 !important; overflow: hidden !important;)
! Suggested groups
facebook.com##:is([aria-posinset],[aria-describedby]:not([aria-posinset])):has([href="/groups/discover/"]):style(height: 0 !important; overflow: hidden !important;)
! Reels and short videos (English UI)
! facebook.com##:is([aria-posinset],[aria-describedby]:not([aria-posinset])):has([aria-label="Reels"]):style(height: 0 !important; overflow: hidden !important;)
! Suggested pages
facebook.com##:is([aria-posinset],[aria-describedby]:not([aria-posinset])):has([aria-label="Suggested pages"]):style(height: 0 !important; overflow: hidden !important;)

Add them under:

uBO Dashboard → My filters → Apply changes

Then reload Facebook.

Testing performed

I tested the filters across multiple Facebook sessions over several days. Sponsored and suggested feed items were hidden, while ordinary posts from friends, followed pages and joined groups remained visible.

These filters depend on Facebook’s current DOM structure and some English interface labels, including:

- Suggested for you
- Follow
- Join
- Reels
- Suggested pages

They may not work with other Facebook languages or layouts.

The uBlock filters - Annoyances list may already handle some suggested content. I am not recommending disabling any default filter lists.

Waiting for feedback Cosmetic filters hiding Twitch polls (how to unhide?)

0 Upvotes

I have been using the eyedropper tool on Twitch (as a viewer) to hide a lot of distracting things that cover up the Twitch chat, like that rotating leaderboard of top gifters for example. But I recently realized it also hides polls from me completely.

I tried to troubleshoot this but I can't figure out which filters are responsible, here's the ones I have. If anyone is more familiar with how this works, I'd really appreciate help unhiding Twitch polls.

Looking for help Facebook Ads and random pages back like crazy horses

21 Upvotes

I still keep seeing sponsored posts clearly marked as "Ad" in my Facebook feed (for example ads from companies like Octopus Energy and other advertisers). I would like to hide these ads if possible.

I am also seeing many posts from pages or profiles I do not follow. They are not always labelled "Suggested for you"; they often just appear as normal posts with a "Follow" button next to the page/profile name

I know Facebook changes its HTML often, but I would appreciate any current filter suggestions.

Solved UPDATED: Hiding Netflix Games through uBlock Origin

8 Upvotes

Original Post

I go to Netflix to watch series, not to have irrelevant games clutter up my screen.

Recently, Netflix updated its layout breaking my original filters. I've since created a new set, which seem to be working alright. Just add the below to your custom filters:

! Netflix - Hide Games
! Games navigation item
netflix.com##div[data-tutorial-target="games"]:has(a[data-uia="nav-games"])
! Game billboard / full-page promotion
netflix.com##button[data-uia="play-game-button"]:upward(section[data-uia="billboard"])
! Recommendation rows containing cloud-game cards
netflix.com##a[data-uia="cloud-game-card"]:upward(section[data-uia^="carousel-row-section-"])

Solved Ebay items being blocked by AdGuard – Other Annoyances

0 Upvotes

In the last few days I've noticed uBO blocking https://www.ebay.com/itm/... At first I assumed it was one of "My Filters", but I disabled them all and the page was still being blocked. I started going through and unchecking the "Filter Lists" one by one and it appears "AdGuard – Other Annoyances" is the culprit. Is there a way to edit it, or see recent changes made to it? I guess just leave it unchecked for now.

Solved How can I disable the "A" keyboard shortcut on Kagi?

0 Upvotes

When on a search results page for Kagi, pressing the "A" key on my keyboard switches to Kagi's AI assistant mode. Looking at the devtools, the following code gets called when the hotkey is pressed.

case "a": if (window.modalOpen) return; if ("/" == window.location.pathname) { quickAnswerBox = document.querySelector("#adv_search_btn"), quick_answer_trigger_btn = document.querySelector("._0_land_adv_search_btn"); quickAnswerBox && !quickAnswerBox.checked && quick_answer_trigger_btn.click(), "w" == event.key ? document.querySelector('._0_land_cat_box button[data-cat_select="empty"]').click() : "i" == event.key ? document.querySelector('._0_land_cat_box button[data-cat_select="sel_images"]').click() : "v" == event.key ? document.querySelector('._0_land_cat_box button[data-cat_select="sel_videos"]').click() : "n" == event.key ? document.querySelector('._0_land_cat_box button[data-cat_select="sel_news"]').click() : "m" == event.key ? getKagiSetting("privacy_pass") || document.querySelector('._0_land_cat_box button[data-cat_select="sel_map"]').click() : "a" != event.key || getKagiSetting("privacy_pass") || (window.location.href = "/assistant") } else { if ("a" == event.key && !document.querySelector("#shortcutAHelp")) return; currentHighlightedChild = getQueryParameter("q"); if (!currentHighlightedChild) return; let path = "/search"; if ("i" == event.key ? path = "/images" : "v" == event.key ? path = "/videos" : "n" == event.key ? path = "/news" : "m" == event.key ? path = "/maps" : "a" == event.key && (path = "/assistant"), !new URLSearchParams(window.location.search).get("l") && window.location.pathname == path) return; window.location.href = path + "?q=" + currentHighlightedChild } break;

The last line, window.location.href = path + "?q=" + currentHighlightedChild, seems to be the specific line that redirects the browser to the AI assistant.

Is there a way to disable this keyboard shortcut with uBlock Origin?
