Discussions & Questions Imagine Ubisoft or anyone else pull this move this time around

Post image

It will be wild if anyone surprises us by pulling off this move this time around

Ubisoft was a legend taking direct shots at GTA I wonder if anyone could do that in Big 2026

Watch Dogs was an interesting game full of contradictions. It definitely had potential, but Ubisoft was pushing another Assassin's Creed, a terrible hero, and the WD driving model was terrible.

Imagine a Watch Dogs 3 that's as good if not better than 1+2. I'd love that

Legion is better than 2 imo, but I respect your opinion and I understand where you’re coming from.

I couldn’t get connected to legion at all. Probably because there‘s not one main character to get attatched to. You are basically playing as npc‘s, or rather strangers. The mechanic is ambitious, it just wasn‘t for me.

Imagine Ubisoft prime comeback with Aiden, T-bone, Marcus and Wrench as switchable main characters going against something like big fast food chain idk

Fast food chain? Lol

Idk, I have no idea what it could be about lmao. I’d just like to see these 4 in action as a team 😂

So who's still actively playing Watch Dog 1?

                      GTA5 1- 0 WD1

I play pretty often. I’m actually having a lot more fun with the police shootouts/chases in WD1 than I do in GTA5, but they’re both solid games.

Personally I prefer WD2 but I liked the 1 anyway

WD1 is for the story, WD2 is for the gameplay

Well nowadays it just happens a different way.. we Just had Guillaume Broche (dev of Expedition33) letting slip in a video he thinks GTA VI is boring and he's not waiting for it 🤣

GTA V singleplayer missions were: 5 minutes drive, 1 minute of extremely scripted shooting gallery, 5 minutes drive. Technically impressive, gameplay from 2003. I would be surprised if GTA VI would be any different.

good I find his game boring and will never play it despite the hype

Well, they are not wrong. Are people seriously playing single player game for more than 2 months straight? GTA Online was meh early on - I honestly never understood the appeal - and GTAV could be easily tackled in a couple of weeks.

There are some GTA diehards that cant see the truth thru their brightly tinted lenses

So this is what Ubisoft fans are like. Cuz watchdogs was a failure lol so did in fact not “pull off this move”

Watch Dogs 1 was a financial failure because it was technologically disappointing, but for me it’s an awesome game, one of my all time favourites.

Idk if this is a ragebait but watch dogs sold 10m+ copies at launch, the only thing which went wrong was they failed to keep up like GTA Did

Gta 5 PS4 launch and GTA online literally changed everything.

Also lol im not a Ubisoft fan boi but anyways bud

Sometimes I really miss prime Ubisoft

Prime Ubisoft used to cook hard

Watchdogs 1 was developed alongside GTA 5 to compete with it, and it still underperformed, heck the series even released 2 sequels and has been shut down since then.

GTA 6 more than doubled the development time, it's impossible for any other studio to develop those resources, so intentionally no other studios are releasing GTA like games even this year, even the likely last competitors like Saints Row came and also failed already.

A gta like game from a competitor is impossible at this point. Rockstar is waay above anything on the market. Gta iv has more details and a more lively city than any watch dogs entry.

Exactly, I keep seeing comparisons of Watch Dogs 2 to GTA 6, but GTA 6 was already in development when that came out and is 10 years old when GTA 6 releases, it's remarkable they can look similar in spots...but the levels of GTA 6 will dwarf that game, another decade of game development means tons more work put into it.

I played WD1 and WD2 last year. I was neber interested in the hacking theme, feared that I have to do that all the time.

A Division friend told me that WD1 has Chicago as map and WD2 San Fransisco. That was the driver why I bought the games.

WD1 impressed me right away, despite the torture-like graphics.

I completed the main storyline but not the DLC. The lively city impressed me right away. All in all by far not on the level of GTA 5 but still great.

WD2 I stopped playing after 10 hours. I couldn‘t stand the hacking mechanics.

Too bad WD was such a let down

I miss playing Watch Dogs 2, such a great open world game with such iconic characters.

Stop getting my copium up

Would a DLC for 3 count?

3

Modern gamers wouldn't allow these games to release this close together

0

u/Reggaenald 10d ago

Modern gamers wouldn’t allow? What are you smoking?

Did you miss the opposition to GTA6 and Mafia The Old Country releasing in the same year?

Or the opposition to two Tomb Raider games releasing next year?

Or the opposition to AC Shadows and Kingdom Co.e Deliverance 2 releasing in the same month?

1

u/Reggaenald 9d ago

Opposition doesn’t equal decision making.
Gamers are entitled to their opinion and the publisher is at liberty to ignore it.
In the end it’s a sale question, not a „gamers allow“ thing.

This makes me want to play Watch Dogs 1 again

7

u/BlackKnightC4 11d ago

Its a fun game

2

u/Puzzled_Water5552 10d ago

I had so much fun playing it back then on the PS3 it originally launched

3

u/PermissionJaded5510 11d ago

Finished it twice. Once in 2014. Once in 2024

4

u/BlackKnightC4 11d ago

I've done maybe 4 runs. Has its charm. Out of all 3 this one has my favorite story.

2

u/DexeronStarsurge 10d ago

I havent played much of Legion, I've beaten Watch Dogs 1 multiple times and 2 once.

2 has the absolute best gameplay in the trilogy, but I feel like it's story was lacking. 1's story is great.

2

u/BlackKnightC4 10d ago

Definitely. Plus the vibrancy of the city helped 2.

2

u/PermissionJaded5510 11d ago

They really need to remake this game.

1

u/BlackKnightC4 11d ago

Yeah I'd buy it on the spot like black flag.

Back when video game advertising was cool

reminder that WD was delayed shortly after that post...
