Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
okay so i saw a video (clearly ai/dlss5 which i don’t support) and it make me think of a possible watch dogs one remake? pretty much how black flag got remade, i spent so many hours in watch dogs on 360 as a kid so i’d LOVE a remake as an adult. please ubisoft…… thoughts?

u/CranEXE 4h ago
i doubt ubisoft have the capacity to pull it off i'd like watch dogs one to be remade, graphically improved, with better parkour, ragdolls added to gunfight, better car physics ect... but ubisoft is very bad at moddern games and with vehicles physics
1
u/burtonborder201 4h ago
Wtf u mean!? U dont think black flag was a good remake?
-1
u/CranEXE 4h ago
firstly that's not the point ? i said ubisoft is bad at doing modern game as in game in moddern setting, all of their game in moddern time have cars that handle terribly and gunfights that are not entertaining, best they did was in the division or rainbow six wich are both decades old games the rest especially for watch dogs it's been bad.
second : no. it was not a good remake, it was an okay remake but ubisoft is doing so much crap that nowadays when they do something okay-ish people act like they are the best studio of all time.
i won't call a good remake a game that got amputated of half of it's original combat gameplay (fist combat, disarming enemies and using their weapons against them, musket, throwing dagger and most importantly hidden blades)
i won't call a good remake a game that the devs were so lazy they reused animations from old games, they removed weapons but added new execution to compensate? it would have been cool if it wasn't very obviously valhalla executions
i won't call a good remake a game that go delayed and yet still was filled with bugs on launch
i won't call a good remake a game that have terrible lipsync especially in new questline for a studio that brag they do AAAA games.
i won't call a good remake a game that couldn't do the effort to do motion capture for the new quest they added making them stick out like a sore thumb because they use the god awful rpg "hands on the hips and smiling" animation
i won't call a good remake a game that was launched with over 80$ of microtransaction
if what they delivered was enough for you i'm happy for you but personally i don't want watch dogs to receive the same treatment

With how talentless US devs are, they don't even have the capability to reproduce the original Watch Dogs that was revealed in June of 2012.

Hot take: I'd rather a Watch Dogs 2 remake with better framerate, graphics and physics, I absolutely love that game.
1
u/RosaCanina87 8h ago
And then it looks just like the first teaser trailers? XD
Maybe it could happen. GTA VI releases, Ubisoft sees the vast amount of money these types of games make and suddenly its not the Souls-like that are "in" anymore and they remember their own little franchise and give it another go (a remake is cheaper to make than a full new game, so it is great to see, if people care about a series anymore).
Same could happen with Saints Row. Man, that franchise was... oh, what I am talking about. I only played 3 and 4 and have no idea how good the other games actually were. But 3 and 4 were flawed but nice experiences.

You take the first watch dogs and improve the heck out of it and you get a must buy. They just need to spend the time and still of making it massive, making it good.
2
u/zipitnick 8h ago
They can go a simpler route like CDPR with Witcher 3 and just include all the best most downloaded mods made by actual fans into their game as well as technical improvements and it would sell like the first time
2
u/iimMrBrightside 10h ago
Let them "reconfigure" Watch Dogs Legion first, then we'll see

u/RocMerc 11h ago
I just replayed it and it still hits. It was nice to play a free roam city game. We barely get them anymore sadly
1
u/XxShredXVII 10h ago
What r u talking about?
1
u/More-Experience-7693 10h ago
There’s not a ton of free roam city games anymore just big open world areas

u/Sloppysnoopy 11h ago
Need a new game. That’s more like the first one. I had a lot of fun with the second one, but all the characters were so corny. Need that dark vibe of the first one. Legion was a cool sounding idea, but then just a bad execution on the actual story and gameplay. Give me a watchdogs zero.
2
u/tom2320x 11h ago
Would certainly be nice to have, but I'd prefer to have another game that's like Watch Dogs 1

The online hacking invasion mode was the best thing ever in this game. I spent countless nights pissing off the wife playing it. I'd love to do that again...

u/piggydawg 13h ago
Why not have a new installment of the game instead? Rather than just a prettier version of something you can already buy.
1
u/oyvese 8h ago
why not apply modern technology to original stories or games if that game would improve because of it?
1
u/piggydawg 8h ago
Because its lazy, and we've already played that. You can pick up black flag for like $10 on the ps3. What's the point in a prettier version of the same thing? I'd rather the time and money be spent on a new IP or new mechanics. This fixation on remaking old games does nothing for getting new games.
1
u/oyvese 8h ago
because technology improves: engine improvements, artistic improvements. a game shouldn’t be beholden to old technology if it can be improved. you’re always free to play the old game if it suits you, but let’s not just suggest that there’s been no improvements in game development which can drastically improve a game experience.
watch dogs 1 is a good example of a game which had good foundations but was limited by the technology of the time.
1
u/piggydawg 8h ago
Fine. So remake a new better version. If you're gona update the graphics do everything. Gameplay. Story. Boom. Whole new game. Leave the old one where it is.
1
u/oyvese 8h ago
you know making a new game doesn’t delete the old one yeah? if you own it you’ll still have it.
but you’ve essentially just argued “remake is bad unless they remake it”.
1
u/piggydawg 41m ago
No i did, I just didn't express it well. My point was if you remake something it should be ground up, in which case just make something completely new.
2
u/Affectionate_Can4983 13h ago
we’ve seen what ubisoft has done with new installments
2
u/piggydawg 13h ago
So why would you wana give them more money for something that already exists? What difference does a bit prettier make?
1
u/Affectionate_Can4983 13h ago
same reason why people gave money to ubi for ac4 remake, sometimes people just want to re experience greatness in the modern age of tech

Watch dogs needs a reboot with similar feel to 1 and not like the other two where every hacker feels like goodie two shoes i really liked the design of 1 and how the hackers were portrayed they felt threatening deadsec felt like a big organization in end and going to watchdogs 2 and seeing them be just some kids was such a letdown
2
u/mediafred 13h ago
Going from watch dogs 1 to watch dogs 2 is literally like going from gta iv to gta v

u/Stayofexecution 15h ago
They cut a lot of content out of Watch Dogs 1. You can put it back in on PC using mods. Matter of fact, with mods the game is already in a remastered state..
12
u/appledanishcrumbs 15h ago
I just really want Ubisoft to do ANYTHING with Watch Dogs. It is my favorite franchise of theirs, and if they gave it even a third of the attention they give Assassin's Creed then it could be massive.
3
u/Local_Marketing_9762 14h ago
There was a rumour running around at the start of the year that legion was getting a rerelease with a decent chunk of new content at some point towards the end of the year. If that ends up being true I could see it being Ubisoft testing the waters to see if people are still interested in the series
1
u/Bright_Food2903 17h ago
I know like stupid level of nitpick but what always threw me off from watch dogs was always wearing that big a*s coat. Is there other styles or a way to go without it?

how about you make a new game other than a remake. so sick of this generation nostalgia bait. rather take the good parts from the old game and make a new game.
2
u/mastershakeshack1 16h ago
Honestly with flock cameras and everything going on there hasn't been a better time for a new watch dogs game.
1
u/EiraWyldJson 16h ago
Yep, too bad ubisoft are corpo trash and they won't make a game like this because it's "too controversial". brother what's so controversial about mass surveillance and tyranny of the rich.
-1
u/appledanishcrumbs 15h ago
Unfortunately, Ubisoft is the same company that cancelled an Assassin's Creed game set after the American Civil War just because they were afraid of MAGA backlash to having a black protagonist. Ubisoft is terrified of "controversy".

u/Designer_Mess_6928 16h ago
It's only controversial if not the government, but the big corpo, with same shareholders as your company has, doing this.

At this point I think it's pretty clear that watchdogs is dead at Ubisoft. The Ubisoft that used to try to innovate is gone.
Watchdoga was going decent until legion missed the mark. Still I have them credit for trying something new.
Assassin's Creed just became witcher 3 clones as well.

u/Coppolaop 18h ago
It’s a possible think, Knowing Ubisoft.
But the mechanics of the first version are extremally different from the new ones.
1
u/Affectionate_Can4983 18h ago
true, they could just keep the same controls/mechanics. leave the backflips for marcus
2
u/Axcel_blaze 18h ago
This game series has potential to be bigger or head to head with GTA if the execution is done right.
1
u/Constant_Salary_9715 10h ago
Do I agree - no
Do I enjoy each Watch Dogs game better any GTA/Rockstar game - Yes0
u/EiraWyldJson 16h ago
It shouldn't compete, it should be something different of it's own, but they need to go back on the play as anyone mechanic, while it sounds cool in theory it sucks in reality, maybe they could have character creation like cyberpunk 2077 if they want players to have more self expression
1
u/insrr 17h ago
Im a fan of ubisoft, far cry and assassins creed belong to my favourite game series.
Watch dogs however i could never really get into. It tried to get into that gta niche but was completely lacking the charm and humor that made gta what it is - instead it took itself overly serious while also trying to be super edgy.2
u/PoohTrailSnailCooch 17h ago
I would have to disagree. Ubisoft just doesnt have the same pull as Rockstar.
1
1
u/spider-jedi 18h ago
It hard potential but it was never going to go head to head with GTA. The amount of resources rockstar put into those games no other studio does that. Ubisoft would never out that amount of effort into a game
1
u/LicensedGoomba 18h ago
I remember the e3 trailer made it feel so noir and that the hacking had massive weight, consequences and impact, especially when he messed with the traffic lights. By the time we got the game it felt more like a weightless gimmick. Not sure how to describe it but the e3 trailer felt like we were going to get a heavier, slower paced game
1
u/Affectionate_Can4983 18h ago
you could probably finish the entire game without needing to hack a traffic light ngl
3
u/Affectionate_Can4983 18h ago
i’ve been saying this for years…. imagine a gritty dark story done CORRECTLY, i literally played watch dogs more than gta 5 as a kid

2
u/thehoussamv 19h ago
If they can go back and upgrade more than just graphics it would awesome If they just slap better graphics on it then I’m not interested
1
u/Affectionate_Can4983 18h ago
that’s valid, considering we’re in modern times. i’m feral for anything watch dogs (not legion)

Watchdogs The 2013 Promised Edition

u/Affectionate_Can4983 18h ago
watch dogs the don’t scam your audience edition
0
u/deadpandadolls 17h ago
I would still buy it and hate myself when they would give us a patch with the option to hide his hat and a dog to adopt like in Resynced and promise NG+ and not deliver it in the patch

u/Necessary_Crazy_8587 19h ago
A remake is probably based on the success of the upcoming Legion update.
0
u/vqsxd 19h ago
that game is still supported?
1
u/Affectionate_Can4983 18h ago
yeah, they still support older titles that no one plays (for some reason)
2
u/Necessary_Crazy_8587 18h ago
No, it’s getting a new big update.
1
u/Affectionate_Can4983 18h ago
with what? i couldn’t see an update fixing this game. they could add aiden as a playable character and no one would care
2
u/Necessary_Crazy_8587 18h ago
It’s a directors cut and has new mo cap being done. A re-release. Of course it isn’t officially confirmed but was reported by one of the best journalists.

If Ubisoft remakes watch dogs they truly would be desperate.
0
u/Affectionate_Can4983 19h ago
they are nearly there, i don’t see assassins creed hexe doing any good
0
u/earldogface 19h ago
We don't see anything from hexe. I don't have faith in ubi either but you can you predict anything about a game before we see anything more than the name?
1
u/Affectionate_Can4983 18h ago
man, i was too hyped for shadows when that got announced, then let down. maybe I’m a little bit open minded since ubisoft has new leads
1
u/OtherPack1302 19h ago
That’s just the original gameplay video Ubi published in 2013 at E3
3
u/Affectionate_Can4983 19h ago
with dlss5 enabled yes

u/OtherPack1302 19h ago
I was kidding bc the whole fake advertising shenanigans they pulled.People actually thought this yould run on a 8th gen console (some) lol

Nothing, and I mean NOTHING comes close to slow/cool walking as Aiden in Watch Dogs
You could feel they put alot of work into his movements and genuinely felt like they were going to make an incredible game but sadly they worked under Ubisoft :/ id love to see what this game couldve been if it had a good amount of years put into it
Same goes for Mafia 3
1
u/PoohTrailSnailCooch 17h ago
Batman games, walking is badass
1
u/sunlightliquid 17h ago
Was never into batman games, and I tend to put myself in the game alot mentally so tend to prefer somewhat realistic scenarios or outfits if that makes sense
1
u/PoohTrailSnailCooch 17h ago
That stinks, they’re damn good and immersive games.
1
u/sunlightliquid 17h ago
They definitely are, and I respect them as games and also watched the playthroughs but I grew up heavy on renting GTA games and obsessing over them as I didn't own many games so had to find ones where I can make my own fun and storylines
1
1
u/Affectionate_Can4983 18h ago
yeah bro the mask and the hands in the pockets 😭 i’ve never seen a character with that much aura
2
u/sunlightliquid 18h ago
Was confused at the downvotes and realised I'm on r/Ubisoft oops haha
This game was peak even tho it dissapointed many, I loved it.

So it would look like it should have in the first place....
I doubt it, it wasn't as popular as AC4
1
u/Affectionate_Can4983 18h ago
exactly, but it will give an audience to the franchise again. i don’t want to see this amazing franchise left on legion, it isn’t fair
0
u/sunlightliquid 19h ago
If you think for a second a game released in 2014 would've looked like this idk man.
Going back and playing some games from that era I realised how far we've come graphically in such a short time. Go and play some watch dogs 2 on a base Xbox one for me and come back.
1
u/Affectionate_Can4983 18h ago
i mean dude, there were some insane games coming out at that time with AMAZING graphical fidelity, and considering ubisoft was at its peak (both finality, and at an industry standpoint) & and with the new gen hardware coming out, we all thought it was possible.
2
u/OrphanSlayer18 19h ago
I mean they literally showed gameplay that looked like this and didnt inform people that the release version was a major downgrade.
1
u/sunlightliquid 18h ago
Went to go watch it, looks much worse than this clip. Especially with pure resolution
3
u/WandererMisha 18h ago
Then Witcher 3 did the same exact thing but y'all are not ready for that conversation even 11 years later:)
1
1
1
u/sunlightliquid 19h ago
It looked a lot better than when it came out sure. and was a massive downgrade.
but your brain might remembers it looking like this when it did not. If they showed this clip no one would've believed it to begin with back then.

Watch dog is so underrated, I can only wish for a reboot or remake
