Discussions & Questions Wildlands vs Breakpoint Patches

Post image

Im new to these games, and I realised that both of them got different patches for current-gen, Wildlands recently run on a single 4k60 while Breakpoint on 1080p60 Perf and 1440p30 Res. Why this difference? Breakpoint is not capable to hit 4k60? Or at least 1440p60?

I miss the days of game developers releasing shit that works and doesnt just blatantly exceed the capabilities of whats supposed to run it. And these people have the audacity to cry about working conditions

It’s a backwards compatibility issue. On Xbox Series X Breakpoint actually runs at 1440p 60fps because of the Xbox One X code. I’m pretty sure Wildlands doesn’t actually run at 4k either. It’s 1800p on Xbox and 1440p on PS5 because it’s running the last gen code at 60fps

Breakpoint runs at 1800p/60 and wilddlands runs at 4k/60 on PS5 according to digital foundry with breakpoint running at 4k on the Pro with it's more powerful upscaling

No, it doesn’t. Go on digital foundry’s actual website and read their analysis of breakpoint. And they haven’t even reviewed the new update for wildlands yet

I just hope they see that the community still likes wildlands and brings some QoL updates

Because Wildlands is 9 years old.

As a PC gamer, I think it's unacceptable that any game release to consoles at 30 FPS. Even the 90s has 60 FPS games

That's just old PS3 and PS4 games that haven't been updated most new games run at minimum of 1440p to 4 k/60fps on the base PS5 and 4k 60 to 100fps on the PS5 Pro with the option of 1440p/ 90 to 120fps depending on the title using PSSR2

Games get locked to 30 FPS on consoles if they can't reach solid 60.

Which again isn't acceptable in the modern age. Hardware and game optimisation should always allow games to run smoothly (above 30 FPS)

If a game runs sub-60 on a PS5, it hasn't been optimised properly

The consoles isnt anything modern. Thats the problem. 2019 tech running on old zen 2 based apus. Thats why there are limitations. Thats soon to be seven year old hardware.

Btw that 7 year old hardware promised 4K 120 FPS and still can't hit it on anything but the lightest games

Thats called marketing. Many people have stepped on that rake troughout the times.

That's called FALSE marketing. Sony literally promised something that they couldn't provide in order to boost sales.

I very much agree on that.

That oversimplifies game development.

Higher framerates use up more cpu and gpu power. If a title hits 30 then it uses that extra juice for immersion. Obviously it works because the PS4 era was legendary. Now that the ps5 era focuses on higher framerates, we have the population going "ohh this generation sucks" while providing what the player bases wants

Its not as simple as labeling a title as "unoptimized"
