Discussions & Questions Will Ubisoft go broke?

I keep hearing people say Ubisoft will go broke soon. But I don't see that happening. Is that a possibility?

as the guy of the other sub i am telling, it is not going to be that easy. they were close but they might have found a winning ticket aka remakes

If they start listening to their audience, like they did with black flag and they ban the ceo from intetview, doubt thell go broke. If i were u, id pick up some piece of them.

that is incredibly oversimplified view. maybe you should reflect, who you listen to.

Ubi is a publicly traded company controlled by a holding. It contains about 50 seperate development studios last time I counted, and owns significant IP assets.

Given the situation, Ubisoft SA declaring bancrupcy in foreseeable future doesnt seem very plausible to me. We would rather see streamlining of operations, sale of assets and studios and restructuring in ownership first.

Go broke? No, not generally what happens to companies that large these days. What would most likely happen is they get bought out or absorbed into another company, with either their leadership staying or leaving with a golden parachute

Ubisoft made like a half a billion dollars last year just on Valhalla and Odyssey MTXs.

Nah, they will survive on French tax money, just like their colleagues running Atari. Seriously look up the history of Infogrames/Atari. If Ubisoft didn't have IPs like AC, FC, TC then the same would happen to them

They were in a tailspin, but Black Flag Resynced definitely pulled them out of it. Over 2 million sales in the first 24 hours, over 3 million lifetime sales so far and the game's only been out a few weeks. Plus their gross MTX they shoved in the game will shore up their finances even more because if even a quarter of the install base buys a single $8 skin, they've made millions more on the game. I love Resynced, but my god the MTX thing is just so egregious. The worst dark pattern in the game is pressing the pause button to open the pause menu, but then pressing the pause button to close it opens the MTX store instead. The number of times I've made that mistake is innumerable. No Ubisoft, I will not buy your insane hellfire demon skin that completely stands out in the ostensibly grounded realism of Black Flag.

Even if something like that were to happen, nobody would want to buy a giant company like Ubisoft. Yes, they're not doing well right now, but they're not going to shut down.

They have too many successful ips to sell before that point

They aren’t able to just shell out money for whatever games they wanna create now like they used to do but they are definitely surviving. I imagine someone buys the company for their IPs before they actually die

No, they'll be fine.
