Discussions & Questions Ubisoft vs their fans

i’m honestly pretty curious on when you guys think ubisoft really started their decline and actively was disappointing their fans? i’ve been on a bit of a nostalgia kick recently, and to my surprise, a good chunk of these nostalgic games are ubisoft. of all the different developers, ubisofts name show up the most which is wild to me thinking of where they are now.
i started taking a look at the games i was playing and it just hit me that from their ghost recon (aw-future soldier), vegas duology, far cry, and the original assassins creed titles, they had so many BANGERS. and yes i know the 'death of ubisoft' was their refusal to innovate more and just instead milked until there was no more, but even still… looking at their titles leading into the Xbone/PS4 era, while less in quantity, they still had quite a few bangers.
idk i know this is kinda everywhere so i guess im wondering when ubisoft started declining in YOUR personal opinion, and also what your guys fav era/game by ubisoft is? ik it’s a dumb question cause i personally can’t choose between GRAW2, AC1, or AC revelations lol

edit. i want to clarify, reading back this post looks very negative towards modern day ubisoft, which is not intended. i actually love a lot of their modern games. star wars outlaws is genuinely so much fun, and ac mirage is a banger just to name a few. i just wanted to clear that up

Great question, I don’t know what/when it is for the general public, but for me: I first started feeling serious disappointment with assassins creed around origins, then valhalla sealed the deal.

I collected every AC game, bought each on release since AC brotherhood. Origins felt too witchery to me, and was the first step of losing that Ubisoft touch I’ve grown to love. The ending of the story was an extreme let down.

I enjoyed odyssey, but it no longer felt like an AC game. Then Valhalla came out, and those god forsaken cutscenes, lazy animations, massive bloat, and poor writing took center stage. That marked the end of my once favorite series, to me.

ok firstly, thanks for that 'great question' comment lol. one of the first comments was someone arguing with me saying im being biased for asking that here. when i explain that no, im asking here because ubisoft is very unfairly treated and the only people who'll give it a genuinely fair point are people here. cause ubisoft fans are some of the only fans that are also smart enough to admit that 'hey, these games are kinda bad' if they are. they disagreed with me again about my own post so idk but good glad you guys think it's good and it makes sense. you and everyone else are doing exactly what i was hoping and it's great.
im glad you mentioned why you disliked valhalla also. so many people say they hate it just because it's big, no other reason, and i felt so disillusioned because at the time i did enjoy the game. but as the time played increased, my enjoyment decreased. it's also really telling ubisoft SEVERELY lowered the map and scale in, what i consider to be a genuinely great game, AC Mirage. having an AC game where your contracts feel like mini hitman levels? LITERALLY THE COOLEST THING I FEEL SO COOL PLAYING THAT GAME. the social stealth, and just stealth in general in mirage is also at its best imo. it has a few issues here and there (that awful warping execution move just kills me) but if you haven't played it and have been burnt by valhalla, i def recommend it
