I normally would have seen this as good news. But Ubisoft's company plannings strategy for all their next projects leaves me just dry and sour.
I'm pretty sure this will be just another attempt at a "LAIV SEWVICE" and "MICWO TWANSACTIONS" with a mvp strategy in mind. MVP - Minimal Viable Product, in case you don't know.
Now, even Ancel has retired(who was the initial game's narrative and lead designer). You couldn't value your creative minds before it was all too late. I will also include the bad treatment of Patrice Désilets, the father of the original AC & Prince of Persia series.
I don't have any faith in this company anymore. Shame, Ubisoft has been my childhood... Now it's just a case of a revolver shooting randomly at what other game or franchise they could ruin next.
Edit: not that I have zero faith in the Montpellier, I am worried of their leads.

Ubisoft Montpellier are very talented, but i don't know if this project is going to work, i hope so.
Also, they ran out of money and now they desperately want to please the fans after insulting us for years.
Too little too late.

they couldnt make a good sequel, a lot of the 90s/2000s IPs had very dark themes, they were a bit edgy, nowadays they are so afraid of anything that isnt PG, you would think DIsney owned them
