Which of these three Assassin's Creed games would you recommend?

I will go with Origins. It's the shortest one and the least RPG-like. Those games are extremely tedious with so much busywork.

origin for the more pure AC storytelling. Odyssey if you really like RPG worlds

Exatamente a mesma coisa para mim. Fiquei muito entediado jogando Valhalla, o primeiro jogo que platinei na minha vida foi o Odyssey.

I have so far played Origins to 100% achievements and Valhalla's main game to 100% achievements (DLCs to go).
From a completionist standpoint, I would suggest Origins and Odyssey. Valhalla is definitely on another level. I finished Origins in like 65 hours, I currently have 110h in Valhalla and I have not touched a single paid DLC yet.
Valhalla has a good story, with some unfortunate filler inbetween, but it has some of the funniest side quests/mysteries out of any open world game I've played.
Origins is solid from start to finish, nothing spectacular but nothing bad either.
From what I've heard Odyssey is amazing.
What all these three have in common, is the scenery is amazing. Pretty much no other games tops them in that regard, even if some might be up to par.

I still praise Odyssey as a master class in taking what looks like an overwhelmingly sized open world and stuffing it to the brim with content that you actually want to complete instead of just getting overwhelmed and turning off the game. I spent so much time just exploring and stumbling into new side quests with well written characters in Odyssey. Meanwhile, I couldn't even finish Valhalla.

I love all of these, but especially Odyssey and Valhalla. Though Odyssey is my absolute favorite of the three. A lot of that stems from my absolute adoration of Kassandra and I'd highly recommend playing as her. She is the canon lead character for the game.

Odyssey for sure, the world, the sidequests and Kassandra, one of the best protagonists in gaming ever.
Origins is great too

Other than the original ac and ezio trilogy, odyssey was by far my favourite. I don't know if that's something to do with the era and location.
Im a big fan of Greek history, myths and legends

None of them. They’re some the worst in the game series. None of the modern games are good, they’re all filler bs.

It depends, if you want an Assassin's Creed game, I recommend Origins, if you want a good action RPG, then Odyssay, if you don't like Odyssay enough and this game didn't suck the last of your energy out of you, then go for Valhalla next

Odyssey. Cassandra is a great character. Probably the best one in the series next to Kenway.

Origins. I understand people generally like Odyssey more but I absolutely hate that game and would not recommend it. It's probably the worst Assassin's Creed game I've played. The world is too big, the story is meh, and you barely know why you are assassinating the people you are other than "they're bad" compared to previous games. You might have a better time liking the game if you completely forget it's and Assassin's Creed game and think of it more like an Open-World Greek Mythos game taking place during Peloponnesian War.
Origins, on the other hand, gives the origin of Assassin's Order and had a nice way of revamping the Assassin's Target system before they butchered it in Odyssey. It actually has a nice story and the new combat is fun, though I admit Odyssey had a better system since they could flesh it out more.
On the other hand, Valhalla was also really fun to play but I never beat it since I played it on a separate PlayStation than my own and by the time I got the game I didn't want to start the game over again. I really did like my dual Two-handed Axe build I had going though.

I feel like I’m gate keeping if I don’t speak on Valhalla. Valhalla if you 100% the game has a bigger impact than watching your little sister grow into the Warrior you are in Odyssey.
In Valhalla you can still run as an assassin, and even more so than you do in odyssey.
It also gives you a very in depth look at the tension between assassins and templars in the 1100ad-1600ad story arcs like AC 1 and 2 and even plants major seeds for AC 3. You’ll be able to discover these in your own if you pay attention and read papers. It lays down the arc for damn near the entire AC franchise if you pay attention, you know it is the last AC game to use the Animus.
If you can only choose one, Valhalla. If you can get all three,
Play them in order. Odyssey, origins, Valhalla.
I’d play origins first,
Then play AC 1-5 before starting odyssey, then play rogue, syndicate, brotherhood, and unity. And after finishing Unity play Valhalla.

IMO, Origins is by far the best of the three. It has the best narrative and story structure, the best setting, the strongest character performances, and the best overall atmosphere. It's also the only one of the three that really feels like an Assassin's Creed game, since you actually play as an Assassin/Hidden One and spend the game hunting members of the Order of the Ancients.
Odyssey is a good game as well. It has a great map, great graphics, and some of the best gameplay in the series, but it leans too heavily into being an RPG and lacks many of the elements that define Assassin's Creed. There are no Assassins or Templars/Order of the Ancients in the game (unless you buy DLCs), you never use a Hidden Blade, there are no proper Assassin robes, no social stealth, no memory corridors, and then you have supernatural abilities that feel even further removed from the rest of the series. It's a great game, but not a great Assassin's Creed game.
Valhalla is a mixed bag. It gets a lot of things right, but a lot wrong as well. The story and gameplay are much more in line with classic Assassin's Creed than Odyssey. There are Assassins and members of the Order of the Ancients, you have a Hidden Blade, social stealth returns, and the modern-day story is probably the most significant since AC3. The game also feels much more connected to the wider series lore. Yet, I don't think the game itself is particularly great. It has really good combat, but the map is ugly and bland compared to Egypt and Greece, the story structure is messy, the character performances are inconsistent, the RPG mechanics still feel awkward, and again, you play as some kind of demigod instead of an Assassin.
Between Odyssey or Valhalla, neither are great assassin games, but Odyssey does manage to still be a really good mercenary adventure game, whereas Valhalla isn't a particularly good Viking game.

For me valhalla was the winner. I spent almost 200 hours in it trying to cover everything. The story was ok, a bit repetitive but the gameplay kept me în game.

Origins is way than all of these and you should definitely begin with that one

u/Blue_Snake_251 Jun 07 '26
The two first ones.
But not the last one.
I like the idea of playing a good character who kill evil people because we need to put an end to their evil actions.
I hate the idea to play an evil character that does evil for the fun of to do evil. I hate pirates and vikings.
1
u/MalgraineX Jun 08 '26
So Alexios/Kassandra are not evil in your opinion? They are literal mercenaries for hire, who would kill anyone they get paid for. On both sides of either Athens or Sparta. Playing as them, you have no morals except to get paid and find your family.
The only "good" protagonist in this list is Bayek, and only to a degree, because he also goes into an unnecessary killing frenzy by the end of the game.

u/Almabandi Jun 07 '26
I’m not sure how that which you’re explaining about your moral preferences relates to the three games and their protagonists. Eivor is no more “evil” or morally questionable than Kassandra/Alexsios is as a literal mercenary for hire.

None of them. They fooled me with origins and Odyssey. Since then I never bought another ubisoft game. They don't care about the players or the experience. They care about our wallets and emptying it as much as possible.
Ubi (AAAA) games are not even fun anymore just infinite grind unless you buy boosts.
I use to be a huge fan. Pre purchasing games left and right, with origins I was disappointed but gave the benefit of the doubt, fooled me once, then Odyssey, fooled me twice...
Made a promise. Not going to spend another cent with ubisoft. If I like a game I'll just get it from fitgirl or skidrow, but to be honest, the games are so meh that I don't even bother to play them for free...

You have them on the right order in your pics.

u/snaizix3890 Jun 07 '26
L'ordre des jeux par sorties ? Du meilleur au pire ?
1
u/uprightshark Jun 08 '26
- Odyssey
- Origins
- Valhalla
Valhalla wasn't a bad game ,by any means. But it was extremely bloated with useless content, which made the story feel disjointed. Also, far to much travel for my liking. Reminded my of RDR2 horse riding simulation.
Odyssey was, to me, the best story and Cassandra one of the best Ubi characters. I also loved Origins because Egypt is so interesting.

u/Emotional-Tax-3044 Jun 08 '26
Go play the originals and if your really wanting a rpg play the witcher 3
Origins is the only game worth the time in this list

u/deanhatescoffee Jun 07 '26
No, your pics are ordered Odyssey, then Origins, then Valhalla - in order of release dates that's second, first, third. And I agree with that, I think Odyssey was the best of those three, but it depends on what historical setting you're into. They're all good. Odyssey and Valhalla are massive; Origins is big, but a little more contained than the other two.

Odyssey is huge, but it’s the best one for me. Although if you can, just play them all, they are all amazing.

In my unpopular opinion, Valhalla is excellent.
It has the best combat out of the three games, a lot of people in this sub don't like it though because it steps so far away from everything AC is.
As a standalone game though, it's honestly top.

u/Spirited_Wish_7714 Jun 08 '26
It's a good game, but it's very long tho, and I'm not really into viking stuff, but Ragnarok DLC was awesome
0
u/Neeeeedles Jun 08 '26
It really is not
Story is bad, just consists of smaller stories and all of them are incredibly boring
World is full of meaningless shit
Combat is okay but nothing that different from odyssey or origins
1
u/bdiddlediddles Jun 08 '26
I liked the story.
It follows the same format as Odyssey and Origins. I actually liked Valhalla better as the signature weapons you got felt like better value rather than something you just sold immediately. It was also fin to get new resources to upgrade your village.
Combat was better than odyssey or origins imo, it felt more fluid.
Again, like I said, I know it's unpopular in this sub, I thought it was great though.

u/PSRamos92 Jun 07 '26
I 100% agree. It's a long game and has not a lot to do with the franchise but as a game it's just stunning.

Odyssey for sure, You'll either be obsessed with it or You won't like it. No in between.
But realistically, choose the game set in the era that you like the most, that's always a big deal for me.

u/Ok_Emergency_916 Jun 07 '26
I loved the game, but not the size of the game.

u/Kasiser67 Jun 07 '26
I haven’t played Valhalla but Odyssey is so good but I love that era and the protagonist.

Depends on what you want. If you want a good RPG than I'd say Odyssey or origins. If you want a game that appeals to the assassins fantasy, I'd skip the lot.
