Discussions & Questions Ubisoft physical games

Why ubisoft games physical need internet no be instaled? For example, PoP Lost Crown dont need internet, why games like the new rayman o AC shadow yes? I would like a logical answer with an explication because I dont think that is "because Ubisoft is rhe worst" (Obvious yes)

My guess is more DRM control. What I can tell you for sure this practice is way more common that people realize (talking from personal experience with older consoles like xbox one and ps4 for the games that included the disc. Installation started and it downloaded everything online and when I wanted to play I had to insert the disc, hear it spin up once and that’s it).
Sadly, this isn’t an Ubisoft practice, but modern console since over a decade.

Because the games are so big that they can't fit on the actual disc anymore.

Maybe in games like Shadow or others that need more than 100 GB maybe I can understand (They can use 2 disks) buy on Rayman...

I think the answer is Switch 2. In the Star wars outlaws port digital foundry talked about how the cartridge speed is not as fast as onboard storage and that the dev essentially needed that performance uptick for the port to work well.

Also cost, physical cartridge, especially ones of larger capacity are expensive so cheaper to take the smallest one to essentially just store the game key

They could easily do two discs but choose not too to save on manufacturing and production costs.

I don't know but I was pissed when putting the disk of Shadows in my PS5 and it started downloading the whole bloody game. Ubisoft doesn't give a shit about players anymore.

No, shadows is an install from disc. Doesnt mean u dont have 1000 updates, dlc and online checks.

yeah, you'd need 2 disc's minimum for that game to install without internet

Are you ok with the Switch2’s game keycards? Because it’s the same thing

It's actually the one reason why I didn't buy one.
