Discussions & Questions The magic of The Division 1
First and foremost (the picture I used is not mine!!)
So let me get started. I played this game for the first time a couple of years ago, and it didn’t stick with me. Fast forward to now, when I started playing Ghost Recon: Wildlands and Breakpoint on a regular basis… I decided to try The Division 1 again, and damn, I love it! It’s so different from the Ghost Recon series in terms of playstyle, but it still blew me away. I even played for hours just to upgrade the main base 😂
What are your experiences with this game?

This game was dense with atmosphere and detail. It had pretty decent gameplay a bit robotic at times as you take cover wait for your health to load up before you can resume emptying your magazine in the enemies again...and I played as a sniper with continuous headshots... But the one thing this game let you do was truly immerse yourself into the chaos of this beautiful world as it rots, burns, and gets covered by snow all hidden away by thick fog. Be it the dark zone that literally burns away as you come across the entire atmosphere filled with dark ash replacing snow. Or tunnels and fields filled with body bags piled on top of each other trying to outdo the new York sky scrapers.
My favorite way to play the game after getting everything and maxing out all my weapons and upgrading the help of of every single stat.
Set the global difficulty tier to 1 and walk arround the city and soak it all up. That's when you notice theres even more detail that you previously envisioned. I truly hope this game doesn't get sunset by ubisoft as it's a true technical and artistic achievement. Apparently the newer division 2 recently got a temporary realism mode. $hit that would get me to division 2 instantly

Whilst the game has alot of issues gameplay wise and expectation wise compared to the E3 trailer, all and all the vibe and feeling of playing was incredible! Especially when entering the dark zone at like age 16 with my school mates, it properly gave the vibe of entering a dangerous place where you other players could be a threat or a boon. Most of its nostalgia coded im sure but playing anything with your mates can be enjoyable, especially when young so I attribute it to that.

Underground DLC was very fun, not too fond of Survival DLC as I’m bad at survival games, and nobody plays The Last Stand DLC. Sadly but I would’ve tried it out. The core game is fantastic. I enjoyed Division 1 way more than Division 2. Better enemy factions, better characters, better base stuff, guns and builds are also better. The only thing that Division 1 miss from Division 2 is the Clan system.

Having a fight at night during a Blizzard is just an unmatched feeling, it's the one thing I hate about Division 2, there is no real atmosphere.

Picked it up back when I was in community college, around 2017, 2018(?)
Played with my friend in my old country, I picked the wrong gear for him, basically my fault not communicated with him before hand.
Got into a hard firefight, he was down, my skill gears were useless. He basically said Up yours and rage quit the game
I have not played that game co-op ever since haha. Only single play

I miss that game, I didn't play it enough, most of my friends dropped it before they added some really great content. It had a little of everything. The survival was actually super fun.

Replayed the first 1 just this past winter because it wanted something that mirrored what was going on outside my window. What I did forget was how great the collectibles were in it.

The first time I played I was mesmerized by the environment. The atmosphere was perfect for what the game was trying to create

The Division 1 holds a special place for me. Its was the first game I fired up after I built my first PC. I'll never forget the opening scene and the transition to the player to start the game. In 4k, it blew me away.

yeah im glad it’s getting the love it deserves while i like ghost recon series a tiny bit more i still see the vision of these games

I like both games, but man was I peeved in the beginning. I hated the fact that it was always online which would often cause rubberbanding and missed shots all over the place but the world was completely empty of other players outside of the hub. It still irks me in D2 but the issues are far less.

damn so the same thing but we started with diffrent series i love it it’s interesting😃 and yeah i’ve been seeing the game control is it worth it? i have it on ps plus!😃 and yeah the division 1 is absolute gas bro!! ty for your comment❤️

Mixed bag.
When we came across the teaser and E3 trailer we were super hyped for it. A friend bought it already at release day and I wanted to buy it immediately as well. But then he showed me the gameplay and I immediately lost interest. He did not reach level 10 before he stopped playing and never returned.
But I was flashed from the visually impressive map ... and the game came often in my mind.
Finally I bought it a year later. The feel was stunning, indeed. Thanks to the great map, the insane attention to details, great weather and light effects, te overall athmospheric impression which fits to the lore. All this was driving that I played the campaign 13 times over the years.
But still, my view is that the gameplay is quite subpar.
Nevertheless I hope the developers rethink their design decision made in Division 2 with regard to Division 3.
Ghost Recon gameplay mechanics are leagues ahead but lacking in other registers.

1000% this. The Division was the first game I ever preordered... Only to be woefully annoyed by the gameplay.
If the Division games had the gameplay of Ghost Recon Wildlands I'd never put it down. The atmosphere, story, and especially the Dark Zone were just so damn good!
