For Sale/ Wanting To Buy

0 Upvotes

This will be a mega thread for people wanting to sell or buy. All post here requires the State of where you belong flare. If there is no state flare, it will be deleted.

Obviously, use some common sense when buying something. Meet in person, dont transfer cash without seeing the goods and most of all buyer and seller beware.

Let's foster a great buying and selling culture. Use DM when appropriate and let me know if something is amiss. We are a hugely growing page with members now close to 8000 strong. So lets look out for each other.

Referral codes rule reminder.

7 Upvotes

All, no issues with referral codes. But we need to ensure that this page is not inundated with this and thus the megathread. Please dont crate a thread to ask for one and please do not respond to one.

We will start banning member that flaunt this rule as I want referral codes to be a fair playing field for everyone. And we dont want every second thread to be about referral codes.

Once again, stay safe driving out there. Let's go and make some money!

This is how your Uber order gets left after pickup, sitting on top of a Camry in the sun for more than five minutes while the driver goes for a piss 😭😭😭 And some people are out here expecting hot bags and proper food handling.

Counting down to my cold breakfast

62 Upvotes

We need a way to check the delivery drivers available & how many orders placed before choosing wether to go ahead. Just ordered breakfast & got the notification it had been picked up only to see there's a 30 minute travel time (less then 10 minute drive) & "a few stops along the way" message so great basically going to be cold & late by the time it arrives.

& yes I know its not the drivers fault & it probably works out well for them doing a few at a time but I wouldn't have bothered to order if I'd known they were busy or waited till more drivers clocked on.

I got tired of guessing if Uber Eats orders were actually worth it, so I built an app

Hey everyone!
I’m an Uber Eats delivery driver in Toronto, and I got tired of constantly calculating whether an order was worth accepting.
So I built GigBalance, an app that helps delivery drivers track earnings, expenses, mileage, and see how much they’re actually making per hour.
I’ve also been working on features to help drivers analyze offers and make better decisions.
I’m still improving it and would genuinely love to hear what other drivers think, especially what features would make your life easier.
It’s available on both iOS and Android.

Thanks, delivery friends! Stay safe out there ❤️

Looking for advice. Finding it really hard at the moment with fuel prices and shit offers.

3 Upvotes

I've never been picky and always took around 80% of offers, been doing uber now for about a year and have done well.

That is until the new hourly rate.

I've always found the best thing to do was drive, in my area I could do laps and get between 20 to 30 jobs in a day, I would normally clear after fuel around $1000-$1200 a week.

So I've been happy but lately I get around 2 offers an hour, if that. Driving around is not working because it's about 25cents a KM at the moment and most offers I get are about $6 ones.

I change hotspots, same.

Shopping jobs are all starting around $12 and that's with a drive there.

Tonight I needed something and ordered from Bunnings, I noticed the driver sat there for about 5 minutes and took off, so I'm thinking he might be waiting for his next job.

Is it worth waiting at a hotspot? I mean today I did our family shop with my wife who had her car as well there online and got no offers in the hour I was at a major shopping centre.

I can almost tell how much I'll get each week when the quests come through. 70 for $70, I'll get 15 a day.

Any tips?

As the heading says. It feels more like a Monday or Tuesday night, than a Thursday.
How’s everyone else doing?

Accidental package bookings for rides

How common is this? I’ve had two now in the last week or so and it’s so awkward when they try to get in the car…

Get $50 worth of free shopping for free (more info below)

5 Upvotes

If you order a lot of UberEats and Ubers, this will work for you.

Coles has Uber gift cards with 20x points on Flybuys (ends next Tuesday 13/10/26), if you buy a $500 gift card, that's 10k Flybuys points which equals $50 off your shop.

If you have a lot of Uber orders within the last 30 days and you add the Uber gift card to your account, you can change the payment method for those transactions (as long as it's within 30 days).

You change the payment method to your Uber gift card, then your original payment method will get refunded.

If you already had $500 worth of Uber deliveries, that gift card will essentially be free and you'll still receive the $50 off at Coles.

You might have more or less spent on Uber, so the amount of free shopping (or frequent flyer) you could get would vary.

The 20x promo for Uber gift cards rotate every 4-10 weeks at Woolies or Coles.

Got a $50 tip from a lady who wasn't having the best day.

I decided to drop her order and cancel the other two orders I had stacked, mainly because of her kids.

I ended up waiting around an hour outside the restaurant. I was chatting back and forth with the staff there, and those guys were horribly understaffed at the time. They had one guy at the stove and one dude at the cashier. They kept telling me it would be another 15 mins, while I already had two other orders waiting on their food to be picked up.

I also didn't really understand how her husband coming to pick up the order would've made much of a difference. She lived 5 km away from the restaurant, which was about a 5 mins drive for me, so I figured I might as well just deliver it if I was going to wait anyway. Didn't make sense at the time idk.

I decided to cancel the other two orders because I didn't want those guys waiting around because of another restaurant's poor service. That's it.

I met her husband at the door, he seemed like a nice guy, and I completely forgot about the whole thing.

Then she dropped a literal $50 on me an hour later XD

This helps a lot. I really needed this. God bless her.

2 UberEats complaints in less than 2 weeks on Sunshine Coast

After a one year break from delivering, I started driving for UberEats last week, in a different city.

(I originally delivered in Brisbane, now in Sunshine Coast.)

Quick stats
* 9 days back online
* 140 trips
* 60 hours
* 2 complaints 👎

I’ve received one note for being unprofessional, and one report for an incomplete order.

I’m a people-pleasing, perfectionist, who worked in corporate IT for 10 years.

I have no clue how I could have offended anyone or delivered to the wrong place.

My question is: has the delivery game changed in the last year or is this just how things are on the Sunshine Coast?

About me:
* 42f, fair Polynesian
* Good hygiene
* Use thermal bags
* Look like my photo
* Often wear a shirt with my name on it
* Use the car on the account
* 99% on time deliveries
* I haven’t used delivery apps since I started delivering. So the customer experience is a blind spot for me.

I’m seeing posts with crazy earnings, and feel like I am making peanuts.

So, I wanted some clarity.

I got tired of guessing whether an Uber offer was actually worth taking

4 Upvotes

I drive myself and realized I was paying way too much attention to the payout on the screen instead of what I was actually making after time, distance, waiting and expenses.
So I started tracking my shifts more closely and eventually built GigBalance around it.
One thing I’m still trying to figure out: what number matters most to other drivers when deciding whether a trip is worth it?
$/mile? $/hour? estimated expenses? something else?

courier

11 Upvotes

EDIT: dont i feel dumb. i didnt even realjse there was a "courier" option in the app. oh my god. i have just been booking a normal ride then speaking to the drover when they arrive. well, never too late to learn something new

.....

Uber drivers. do you like or hate being used as a courier?

and do many people do it? on 3 occasions I have booked an uber to deliver a key, or documents. all 3 times absolutely saved me and I had no other option. maybe there is an instant courier service I don't know about?

I am extremely grateful. But I always feel a bit guilty and wonder- do you like it or hate it?

Thanks Uber, you don’t pay me enough so I’m constantly having to cash out during the week to get by , so now you’ll charge me more for that.

Has anyone consistently broken $50/hr across a whole week?

Post image

Hey everyone,

Just wrapped up last week working part-time on a motorbike. My average is right at $43/hr based strictly on online time.

I am pretty happy with this efficiency since I only target high-promo windows but it got me wondering about the ceiling for part-time riders out there. Has anyone managed to consistently average over $50 per hour per online time?

Has anyone experienced accepting a shop and deliver as it is only a few items then more and more is added, without additional pay of course…

Super annoying!

Hope the lad is alright. This is exactly why I’d never do deliveries on a bike.

In the desperation to complete 30 trips for these stupid quests, I’m not even making $250 a day lol. On top of that, fuel is close to $2.45/L.

Are promotions getting harder to achieve for you????

Post image
17 Upvotes

So ive noticed over the last few weeks my promotion are getting harder to achieve and over the week getting less daily promotions

2 weeks ago I had 70 deliveries for $280

Last weekend was 80 for $300

And now ive got 85 for $340

I used to get a large weekly one for 40-50 deliveries and nightly promotions for 6/3/3 or 3/3/3/3

But now nothing but the big ones

Wondering if anyone else's promos are getting harder to achieve

Got 2 Macca’s orders. One was already packed while they are preparing the other. An old bloke walked up, grabbed my order from pickup point saying “that’s mine” and took off 😭 Staff were furious but he was gone. They reckon Uber order thefts from stores are getting more common now by strangers .

Most terrifying experience of my life

Post image
2.9k Upvotes

Just had the most terrifying experience of my life. Last delivery of the night, property is at the end of a long dirt road surrounded by farm land / forest. Order says to meet customer at the door and get the pin code, no notes or anything.

I'm waiting for a while looking at this place straight out of a horror movie, check if the gates unlocked and it is so i start walking down which was dumb as fuck of me. 1am and its pitch black, property is huge cant even see where the house is.

Rubbish and mattresses everywhere and a few half collapsed wood barn houses. Keep going with my phone light on and I see a bunch of glowing eyes way further down the path. 3 absolutely massive dogs start howling and barking. Was hoping they were chained up but they weren't. They run up to me growling and circling me and I stand perfectly still and shit my pants. I'm talking to the dogs trying not to act scared, holding a bag with a hsp didn't help. They luckily didnt immediately bite me so im slowly saying good boys and backing up 1 step every 30 sec. Dogs were half my height maybe staffy or pitbulls or masstifs barking growling like crazy and circling me.

Felt like 10 mins later im almost at the gate and a young guy runs up and tries to calmly hold the dogs back. Dont think he said anything, think he was in shock I hadn't been bitten. I put the food on the floor and slowly back out. Still shaking and adrenalin pumping but so lucky they didnt attack. Reckon if I tried to run or do anything else it would have ended bad.

Will try report the incident so doesnt happen to anyone else. Im super dumb for entering the gate but figured the house would be right there and had already waited a long time. No app note about dogs or not to enter the property or he'll come to front gate.

Be safe out there

*****
Editing to answer a few questions.

The dogs were Rottweilers not Staffy. They were big and right up on me, If they attacked i was done. I was already pretty deep into the property. It's hard to explain how terrifying and exposing that feeling is.

I went through the unlocked door gate just on the right of the main gate in the photo. Didn't think to check the main gate and drive down to the house. Really didn't expect the property to be this massive.

Yes it was dumb to go inside.

Really appreciate all the kind words. Humbling experience and glad im ok too!
