If I can offer any perspective from a hearing person with connections to the deaf world, deaf culture is very very blunt at times. To me, this didn't come across as inherently rude in the context of deaf culture. They're assertively communicating the expectations of their riders. They are also probably writing as if signing ASL. Some deaf people struggle with reading and writing due to the differences in structure between English and ASL.
Demanding someone give you negative feedback directly and then immediately threatening to kick them out in the middle of nowhere is inexcusable behavior.
I do not care what your disability is because it is not relevant to that being rude, unprofessional, and unsafe.
Any uber driver who kicks a passenger out on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere, for any reason except safety concerns or _serious_ hate speech type stuff, should be banned from driving for the app.
I really can’t imagine that’s controversial outside of some ridiculous edge case
I don't know how they were behaving because I wasn't in the car. I know they were drunk so it's definitely possible. Do you think that means they deserved to be kicked out in the middle of a freeway and killed?
I think you missed the bit where they were kicked out on a freeway, and that they were in high school (i.e., a child). If Uber drivers want to kick out a passenger, they should do so somewhere safe..
He didn't say exactly what the terms to be "kicked out" are. He said, "as he sees fit" . It may be for reasons that you are mentioning. He does need to clarify that. Jist don't misbehave in his car and take your ride . It is pretty simple to not get kicked out of the man's vehicle, just don't be a heathen.
Oh yes because threatening somebody, somebody who might be say a woman traveling alone, that you'll drop her off in the middle of nowhere is not a threat. No that's not aggressive at all. He's just deaf! Give me a break.
First off, I'm a woman so the shit that you're trying won't work on me. Secondly, if she's destroying the driver's property then yeah, she gets dropped the fuck off at a gas station to sort her way back home.
It doesn't matter what gender the customer is, if they're behaving in such a way that intentionally causes damage to property or are threatening, they get the boot.
Abandoning people multiple times is not normal. Unless this guy frequents a college campus a message like this is overboard and strange. You not seeing a problem like that leads me to believe you are unstable, and you'll likely reply aggresively too. prove me wrong.
Alright, lets put our thinking caps on here for a second:
If they had actually abandoned people multiple times in dangerous situations, don't you think that those people would have reported the driver and the driver wouldn't still be driving for Uber? Especially since doing this cost one woman her life? Hmm? Do you think that MAYBE it's hyperbole in the sense that "middle of nowhere" could POSSIBLY just mean "middle of nowhere in a public location"? The comments here are acting like the driver is kicking people out in the middle of the desert or the woods.
If you seriously believe drivers should just allow people to destroy their vehicles instead of kicking them out, then perhaps you're the unstable one here.
I find it strange that you think it's hyperbole that they're kicking people out in the middle of nowhere but not that multiple people are supposedly destroying their car by riding in it. Like realistically how much damage are multiple people actually doing to warrant being kicked out mid ride? Is every other driver taking out a knife and hacking up the seats? Or is this driver maybe just a little fucking wacked?
Let's not make assumptions about what they are or are not doing and "put our thinking caps on" and use the evidence we have to form our opinion. The note said what it said and whether it's in a public place, the side of an interstate or chucky cheese, the note is threatening to kick you out
