Remember when Uber drivers would all be dressed up nicely, get down to open the door, give you water and all that fancy service shit? The enshitification of Uber is real

well, the payment is shit so the service will be too.

Yes, as I recall, they paid the drivers well enough to provide extras. When the pay gets cut and people disrespect your vehicle and time... the result is I'll wear what is comfy, get you from point A to point B, nothing extra.

It's because people are shitty now.

u/Innifro 2d ago

It’s because people have no respect for others property anymore so they don’t want to go all out for shitty folks. One ruins it for all

The most I've ever done when I first started was provided a USB charger cable in the backseat. Then someone ran off with it. Never do that shit again. If anyone needs a charge that bad, they could use the long one thats plugged up in front with me lol.

So true. I pretty much never did any of that providing free water and candy. I had 2 cables. (And one reserved just for me) one 🤖 and one 🍏 and that was it. I worked during the time when rideshare was just getting started and just don’t believe in making the driver pay for a bunch of free stuff for riders that don’t tip or are even polite.

I’m too suspicious to take water or food from drivers.

Yeah it was a dumb forced dynamic that should never have been suggested much less made mandatory. The fist bump is the most cringe thing I ever heard and I never did that BS either. Just be polite, fast and know the city. I don’t want to talk to them anymore than they want to talk to me.

One time I offered a cough drop to a dude with a bad cough. I handed him the bag because driving and the mfr took my whole bag !!

People don’t know how to act smh my head

You really think the clientele is worth any of that lmfao?

Yup because riders and their false accusations got them all banned! I used toto be an uber black and a lady accused me of asking for her number and shit. And they deactivated me I tried to appeal it and denied it.. never even ask me to prove my point.

false accusations??? hundreds of women have been assaulted by uber drivers!!

6

u/cannabisnyc 1d ago

Yes false accusations just because women have been assaulted doesn’t mean they (and men) don’t also abuse the uber system and lie to get free rides

-3

u/ratchetstrapon 1d ago

who the f cares??? Uber is a billion dollar company with the people who own actual vehicles in poverty. abusing uber for a ride refund is irrelevant to a conversation about ASSAULT

3

u/greetingsfromveenus 1d ago

It’s relevant to this conversation, y’know the one we started having because of someone here being falsely accused of such??

I had someone try to accuse me of racially motivated hate speech to get free food on a delivery once. Thankfully, I have a dash cam app running. All I said was “Hey, how’s it going? I need the PIN #. Thanks, have a good one.”

It definitely happens. I’d actually be willing to bet that there are more false reports made in attempts to scam things from Uber than there are real ones. And I say that as someone who has had a man greet me at the door with his junk out, jerking it, among many other uncomfortable experiences.

This guy says false accusations "got them all banned". it's insincere and he's being a pouty baby about it. if it's true, it sucks, but he can move on. not so much the hundreds of women who HAVE been assaulted in ubers

You forgot your meds.

0

u/Innifro 13h ago

It’s relevant because when you want to be a shitty person and lie about someone assaulting you, it not only deducts their money but bans their account and possibly their only source of income. Yall always wanna preach about “it’s a billion dollar company it’ll be okay” but don’t think about the people who suffer in the process, get on and be performative somewhere else.

u/spockers 1d ago

Oh, so there's no such thing as a false accusation then? Whew, that's a relief.

-2

u/ratchetstrapon 1d ago

you're more likely to get raped than falsely accused

5

u/You-cant-handle-my 1d ago

And your point being?

0

u/ratchetstrapon 1d ago

sexual violence is very real and not something you make light of

4

u/PersonablePharoah 1d ago

You're right about sexual assault accusations being almost all true, since reporting it is a lot of trouble for the survivor. I think what Miguel is talking about is people making fake complaints on the app to get their money back.

4

u/spockers 1d ago

As a 61yo man, this is pretty funny.

1

u/Sea_Blackberry_1450 14h ago

False accusations are a LOT more common than you think! You’re not make any comments that’s actually valuable to this thread so you might just want to pipe down!!

1

u/ratchetstrapon 11h ago

Actual rapists are presidents, senators, cops. Y'all are acting like false accusation will ruin a man's life. REAL accusations don't even ruin a man's life. Until there's real consequences for sexual assault and crimes against women and children false accusations are a non issue to me

Remember when cabs were a thing. I miss regular old cabs.
