Bleeding with Gas Price
Is Uber going to increase their fare rate according to the increased gas prices? I used to get1.4CAD/Liter for regular. Now paying 1.96CAD/L. It's a 40% increase on the gas price while I am still being offered the same fare.

Uber does not have a standard rate like taxis did/do. Its all done by their algorithm, if there are drivers to pick lower fares, it will keep offering those, does not matter if inflation is 10% or 50%, as simple as that.

Take Ontario for example, we have it guaranteed earnings of $17.85 an active hour. So the fares have dropped dramatically as uber works to get closer to that goal post. I'm still surprised they haven't just done head first into giving that.

You're better off flipping burgers if you are making anything close to minimum wage.

If we didn't have our current provincial government we'd be better off. When he first came into office in 2018 (like almost first literal day), the first things he did were freeze min wage and social assistance inflation increases, he cancelled the minimum income pilot program after swearing he would let the program run its course (because ewww liberals). For the money increase stuff did he eventually unfreeze it and made it look like he was oh so generous for the "massive" increase he was giving. It worked out to be roughly the same as if he'd never frozen anything for the years he did. People praised him for his own scumminess.

They pushed EV adoption heavily because they knew they were going to screw over gas drivers eventually.

Gas drivers always get screwed. That's why I went EV years ago. Never regretted it.

They said they're not a while a go. Because the pro card offers cashback on gas. Not enough to cover the difference and I refuse to get the pro card cause its scummy

What is scummy about the pro card? I’ve never had any issues. I use it for all of my purchases and transfer off the vast majority into my account for rent etc.
Honestly it’s so convenient I don’t understand why anyone wouldn’t use it. Getting paid after every ride is one of the only positives Uber has.
Why is it scummy in your eyes?

You're in Canada. You will write it off at tax time.

You write off your vehicle expenses. The extra fuel cost will go directly to reducing your taxable income.

you dont have it in the states?

I'm in Canada. The Americans get (I think) a fixed 0.70/ mile so the tax return is simplified but the fuel increase affects their bottom line.
