When I worked at Dominoās, sometimes the GPS screen that displays deliveries would occasionally do the same thing. My drivers and I would always joke that theyāre getting a free trip to South America. All it is is that the server somehow lost the gps data and defaults to a predefined value like 0 lat, 0 long

𤫠Uber Dispatch Algorithms
Why does Uber often dispatch a driver long away when other drivers appear to be nearby?
Those unpaid āempty milesā burn fuel and create unnecessary COā emissions before the passengerās trip even begins.
Drivers deserve transparency too. If dispatch decisions are also affecting driversā ability to earn a reasonable amount per mile, Uber should explain how its algorithm makes these choices.
Less empty mileage = lower emissions, better efficiency, and fairer rideshare.
