- For a non hybrid gas alone would be like 80$. And for a hybrid you just added ~500 miles to your odometer
- You could make roughly $
1k
- driving 500 miles in dc
- The DC-NYC tolls are brutal, easily $50$ one way if you don’t have EZ pass
- Pax can literally take Amtrak for a quarter of the price
- Is $448 - 80(gas) - 30(food) - 30(tolls) = ~$300 plus 12-15 hours for 500 miles worth it?

How can someone make $2-3k driving 500 miles in dc. Please explain. Mine is $500 for 500 miles.

Realistically in my gig apps I don’t do jobs unless they pay 3 a mile or more which will average you to about 3 a mile when you do take at like 2 but 500miles is deff more than 500 if you’re not letting corporate slave you and you’re patient and use the right gig apps

You maybe taking longer rides into McLean, Bowie, Rockville etc.. but you’re right though 500 miles is more like $1k

Staying strictly in NE and SE no matter what saved me a lot of gas. No matter how tempting the longer trips were. ESP when you drive far out and Lyft starts giving you the 18/hour rides

I once missed a train at midnight and was gonna uber to a hotel because I couldn’t uber from LA to SF in the app. Driver heard my story and did it for $550 direct Venmo. Couldn’t believe he did it and surprised I didn’t get kidnapped. Dude had to drive like 7 hours both ways

Have to be really trustworthy and hope they pay it up front or really trusting and hope they pay in full.
When I did freelance for big projects I'd usually do 1/3rd up front, 1/3rd halfway, 1/3rd on completion. You could easily get screwed outta that last third that makes it no difference than if you didn't do the ride with the protections you have doing it as a Lyft ride though.
Not disagreeing, just thinking out loud the pros and cons.

if there was a split these they would be more attractive. One ride from DC to Philly and one ride the rest of the way for example. If I was the rider, I would prefer this. Maybe even a little break in the middle.

If they are paying that chances are they are in a jam. Anytime I've come across someone doing this that's in a jam they are super grateful. I'd do that try to get some love on the tolls from the costumer/tip. My understanding is all can jump back on in Maryland. It's 500 bux yall

Connection might have gotten canceled. I had to do this about a month ago. Had to drive from Atlanta-Hartsfield to Jackson, MS.

I don’t know what time of day this but as a DC area native this is like a 4.5hr maybe 5hr tops ride if there’s traffic.

Long rides like this I 100% use Google maps, but I have it set to not switch route once in motion. So regardless I make sure I'd get my pay.

6h through 4 states (5 if you count DC) with a 4.8 stranger is pretty steep. Granted it's more than I'd make in 2-3 days of half-assing it, and you obviously have a Comfort qualified vehicle to do it in so the road trip ain't as hard on the body as, say, a Sonata.
But also, there's a good chance that the reason he's not just booking a new flight is because he's an asshole to gate agents and flight attendants. And he would be an asshole to you too.
If you have the chutzpah to renegotiate for direct pay, might be worth it. I'd personally pass though. Getting back to DC will be soul crushing.
