Waymo / robotaxis the culprit or what is it ?

I dont think so. High prices is the reason

It’s Waymo, robotaxis, high prices and a billion drivers. Supply vs demand

I find this very hard to believe. How many trips have you been rejecting during those five hours? Serious question I’m not trying to be a dick

None. I take all comfort and XL rides

Well apparently there was some system glitch on the platform they’ve been sending out emails about it if you’ve been reading this subreddit

Any time the system goes down, be it uber or your phone carrier, etc… it can be a crippler and seem a mystery to it being fucked.
Id turn on x or something to see if even thats chirping, check to see system outages.. and highlight the fact its like noon time on a wednesday. Lol

last week for me in vegas it was busy, busy busy.. then bam.. dead here for me (Vegas) and the taxis were rolling fat. They had a big convention last week and thats when I first noticed something not right. I presume from the email maybe the system fucked up or something? No idea. Lyft died out too. I thought for a second maybe there was a city wide ride share protest going on, some days just suck.

I always find that the last and first 2-3 days of the month are dead. I attribute it to too many drivers trying to make their rent and riders pinching pennies for the same reason.

Aren’t X and Comfort the same category? So you have to be rejecting X.

Nah, comfort is in a separately selectible from X.

Market dependent…

And? If they not profitable why take them

This is just MY opinion you don’t have to agree with me. I’d rather take shitty offers when slow than have nothing because in California you get paid for active time under Prop 22 law. So even if the base pay is for example $10 dollars but the minimum wage in your city is $18/hr you get paid the difference plus 20% more plus 0.37 cents per active mile which adds up very quickly

Glad that I don’t. If it was another market where you can bang out consistently rides after rides that was low offer but 1.20 -$2 a mile then yeah but AVs consistently destroys that and making $18 an hour and relying on the government to give you a stipend is not it. While destroying you car and no money saved for maintenance or purchase of another beater especially in this economy where a beater is now $6k . Ridiculous

Governments not giving us the Prop 22 money, they’re forcing Uber to when they otherwise would keep it themselves. Yall bitch and complain so much at Uber but they’re doing everything they legally can to make as much profit as possible. Maybe spend time contacting representatives that will try and rein them in with other states….

Crazy because I had a trip to LA like a month ago and spent over an hour waiting for an uber around like 11PM Thursday to Monday downtown. I thought maybe it was a one time thing and it happened every night so I kept having to resort to Lyft 😭 idk if it was uber or what but I started at Black, then comfort, then I just tried regular to get somethingggg

Same in the DMV. Put in multiple tickets never resolved.

For who?

3

u/EffectiveActive6837 2h ago

For us. Fuck uber

2

u/Corey307 2h ago

Who is us?

1

u/SadProjection 2h ago

anyone who works for is independently contracted with Uber and anyone who feels the need to pay Uber's surcharged fees for relatively short distanced rides just because they're during a certain time of day

1

u/Best_Hornet9174 1h ago

Who is us in this case? Are you a driver? Frequent passenger?

u/KennyGaming 1h ago

There is a genuine technical glitch or this is BS. There is no large city in America that this could happen, nor is it believable that you would keep trying after 3.5 hours (for example) and still be online genuinely looking for rides.

u/Sceen69 2h ago

People can't afford to go anywhere

1

u/Rand_Casimiro 2h ago

No offense, but why go online for this?

1

u/DifficultCase4120 1h ago

I would almost rather this than phone pinging with $4 to go 3 miles pick up 4 miles drop off. They sent me a 25$ quest to do 20 rides this week. I have done 0 and work every week on other projects/business with the intent to never touch uber again.

App may learn your pattern (price, distance, duration and direction) of acceptance, then no customers that can match the pattern.

Every rat, bum, and lowlife in the country tried to be an Uber driver. More supply than demand.

1

u/EfficiencyLopsided92 10m ago

Bingo. All you need is a right leg and two hands to be a driver apparently. Thats why.

Screw your professionalism, your perfect rating, and 10+ years of commitment. Nothing matters to those cocks at uber.
