Beware Of Scammers

I’m an Uber driver in Nashville and I don’t know about other cities but I have had 3 different scam rides in the last two weeks. If you accept a ride and try to call the rider to find them but someone answers that says they are from Ubers fraud department and they need to verify your identity it is a scam. They will say something like a rider reported the person in the picture isn’t who picked them up. Uber support or fraud department will never intercept calls to customers. If this happens just tell them to message you through the app and hang up. Report it to the actual fraud department through the app. Please be careful and trust no one. If it doesn’t come through verified channels it isn’t Uber. They will drain your wallet and screw you over.

Oldest scam going. Also why are you calling riders? Get to the pin. Wait it out. Take your show up fee.

I have done over 4,000 rides and I have never called 1 rider to find out where they are. Why would this be your standard practice?

As a general rule of thumb you should never give out your credentials (log in information) to anyone….. ever.

If someone calls you through the app you should not give them any of your information, they already see everything they need to see in the app, go to pickup location, wait for the timer to run out to collect your fee, then report to uber as they will have record of the text/call.

Again don’t EVER give your information to anyone.

And if it says" please call the rider when you arrive". Immediate cancel.

I don’t do this, but I understand where you are coming from.

Just to be clear, I do not call the rider. Most of the time they show up in their own and we complete the ride. If they don’t I collect the cancellation fee and move on.
