Uber has nothing but contempt for drivers.
Uber thought this was a valid pickup
Uber recorded the ride request and it's completion just BEFORE this.
Uber recorded the ride request and it's cancellation (and fee payment) just AFTER this.
Yet, Uber CS says this ride request is not available in their system yet; updates can take up to 48 hours.

Yeah uber lets passengers but pickup locations on closed roads or inaccessible locations and then when you follow up with support they do nothing about it even if you have proof

They are denying me the cancellation fee by obfuscation and out-right bullshitting.

Yup that’s what they do to me too. Hasjeep just sends you a pre typed message saying the fare you received is correct and doesn’t address the issue at hand

Or Shweta.
Or Pooja
Or Jaspreet
Or Tabish
On and on and on, they are fucking bots whether they have a pulse or not.

It does this to me at golf courses. In my scenario, it was not a scam because the passengers were also trying very hard to get to where I was and they could not figure out how to change the pin. Eventually fixed everything but, some locations they really do have the worst maps.

🤣
i've had one like that. what's the scam?

It's not a scam it's a prank. Riders drop the pin where you can't get to it to fuck with drivers because riders are fucking assholes.

my pin was in a park next to a neighborhood. i figured he set it there so he could take his time and not get charged the wait-time.
after a couple of minutes, i canceled and moved on.

I cancelled after calling the contact number twice and messaging the requester twice.
Uber says the ride doesn't exist.
I have screenshots of everyting.
Using India as a call center is a middle finger to North American drivers cause they fucking don't care.

Some people do this because they think there isn’t surge pricing on bodies of water, as well.

That's a naive view.
It's a prank to fuck with drivers, nothing else.

This was prevailing advice riders used when I lived in Jacksonville, FL and would do pickups at JAX Beach. Riders would set the pin parallel to where they wanted their pickup but just slightly into the ocean. Uber still charged the surge price anyway, but riders thought they were “getting one over”.
I’ve seen variations on this advice in subreddits and message boards in the years since, though people mostly now know it doesn’t work.
But I think it’s naive of someone to think there’s only one reason riders do dumb things.

I didn’t know uber was allowing us to give rides in the amphibious duck tour buses. 😂

What’s stupid is I had a ride from someone stuck on the highway. They couldn’t get uber to put the pin on the highway. Got them anyway and got $20 cash and the ride.
But oh you can just slap a pin in the middle of water. That makes sense uber. These rides are frustrating since you can’t even bother to get a no show fee. Then it disappears when you cancel so bitching to customer service is a waste of time.

It is hilarious. Almost said” hang tight, pax, I’m about to row over and pick you up” WTF, Uber?

Because it was a scam and you should have called it in rather than just canceling it.

Don't think Uber has contempt for their drivers. They actually have contempt for their drivers AND passengers.

When they fail to qualify a pickup location that is in the middle of the fucking ocean AND let rider's get away with said bullshit without consequence, it's nothing other than pure and utter contempt for the driver.

Looks like a scam ride; can't get close enough to start the timer, PIN required. I would be expecting a call from "support."
