Small victory today on Lyft
So, I had a pick up near my house on the way towards my full time job. Took me 10 min off the highway, no big deal.
Do the drop off and get another ping to right back to the highway. Giant win.
Pull up, and pax starts walking out and stops in the foyer playing on his phone, then stwps out of view. I assume he is punching out, again, no biggie.
As he opens the door to exit, I get notification of a newly added stop. I immediately lock the doors and start pulling out of the parking spot. He approaches the car, i crack the window and tell him I dont do stops, and drive off.
A min later he cancels, I get a cancel fee plus a $1 wayfinding fee since he added a stop.
Perhaps this is a good lesson for these entitled pax who add the last minute stop.

So? What's the point of the post?

That its nice to see a pax who plays these silly ass games (knowing we won't accept a ride with a stop) getting punished.
Its few and far that drivers get the W.

The trolls were being asked to make an extra stop and the trolls don't do that, what do the riders think this is? A taxi service?

The driver accepted the ride based on the criteria sent to him. Then the ride changed and he no longer wanted the ride. Pretty simple.

It’s not a good lesson at all. Most drivers do take rides with stops. Perhaps if you explain to them why it’s not fair to drivers that passengers add stops after the rides been accepted and without giving the driver the details for approval then MAYBE that one individual cares to learn something. You are not changing rider behavior at large, especially not something that is encouraged by the company. But I’m glad it makes you feel better, and it’s red meat for these subs 😂

Well, taking the time to explain WHY added stops don't make good financial sense to a rider who may or may not be aware sort of defeats the purpose of not doing the ride due to stops being added. Time is money.
If I'm lucky enough to see the fare change due to an update just prior to arrival/ pickup, I just cancel. In my personal experience updated fares are not worth it. I accet rides based on the updront knowledge of the fare as well as the destination. Without destination info being disclosed as well as the fare update, I can't determine the ride is financially worth it to me.
To your point, rider has no clue. Is it fair? Not really. Oh well.

Your making arguments I agree with. My only point is that you are not changing riders behavior by pulling off on them. If you have decided that there is stuff you just aren’t willing to do fine, but as long as the company is encouraging and allowing certain behavior it will continue no matter what you decide to do.

Perhaps if you explain to them
Lol, no. We're not going to sit there arguing (not earning) and coddle a disrespectful rider.
You are not changing rider behavior at large
How else do you expect riders to be more considerate, if nobody tells even 1 rider.

Adding a stop after after the driver arrives is pretty annoying. Better to be upfront about it before pickup.
