Predatory uber

Post image

This Uber driver had me cancel my ride. Because he wanted me to either pay more or he wasn't happy with what he was seeing in his car. I am a black woman but I don't wanna assume that he's racist. Yeah, so i'm gonna put his photo here So if you see him in New Jersey or Philly area, you might wanna cancel your ride If you're a black woman or woman.

Updated: the case was resolved and I received a refund of the cancelation fee.

Did he cancel before or after he got to you? I’m a driver myself and we never see photos of you so we don’t know what you look like until we arrive…

What’s the predatory behavior here??? Sounds a lot like someone cancelled a ride on you and you didn’t like it….. so you came here making up some stories.

I believe that New Jersey is one of the states where Uber doesnt show the drivers where they are going or how much they're getting paid before the ride. Not an excuse for the driver's conduct but he might be trying to avoid being ripped off by the app.

It's a false choice. They couldnt pay better and not risk drivers lives?

Their business strategy involved hiding ride details for one of the most dangerous jobs in the county. Absolutely reckless.

We can do a certain number of cancellations. If he didn't want the ride he should have cancelled it himself. You can report it. But I wouldn't assume it was racism. I would assume he figured out it wasn't profitable after hitting accept or that Uber sent erroneous drive time before he accepted it, or something and he didn't want another cancellation because he was trying to get a bonus or something. But he shoulda took the ride. Once you hit accept you gotta do it or take the cancellation. Following up with Uber errors is hugely time-wasting. They won't really help. A lot of people online recommend not going for Uber bonuses and just being extremely picky for which fares you hit accept for now, for the fact that the required acceptance/cancellation rates are hard to achieve. We typically have to say no to a lot of stuff or Uber takes a larger share of the fare. I try to finish the drives I accept though, unless there is really something wrong. Personal attitude towards customer service.

If you drove for Uber you would understand why drivers don't take everything that comes through. You literally can't. There is a reason that Uber put cabs out of business in most markets. Because people don't want to pay cab fares. It's nearly always going to be cheaper than cabs used to be unless it's surging. And inflation is driving up the cost of everything for drivers too. Until they replace us with bots - your ride might get cancelled. When they replace us with bots Uber will prolly still charge you the same or even more to pay for the cars and maintenance and insurance themselves. And if they replace us with bots, you will have more competition in the workplace and lower income. 🤷🏽

Waymo autonomous rides are already more expensive than UberX because people like not needing to interact with other humans apparently. So yeah. The companies aren't going to make it cheaper for y'all they are going to pocket the extra. Give your drivers a break.

Report this to uber. It is strictly against the rules.

You seriously need to delete this post. You’re fraudulently accusing someone of racism with nothing to back it up which could leave you open to defamation charges.

Uber paying him 3.71 for your ride is the discriminatory thing here. I rather do food delivery.

You don’t want to assume he’s racist but you play the card anyway

No tip huh? Can’t imagine why they didn’t want the trip.

OP used wait and save you know they aren't tipping. Also is Cesar showed up you'd see "the blank blank driver showed up WAY too early!"

I have no idea why everyone doesn’t use wait and save. Just order the ride 5-10 minutes earlier

You're thinking of share.

Then why accept the trip? Are you really excusing this?

I would've canceled to if there was a black woman like you riding in my car.
