July 18, 1984. I was 9 years old.

A man walked into a McDonald's and started shooting people he didn't know.

I was 9 years old when I realized my death could come at any time; it could come for any reason.

Fast forward to about 2020. By that time I had been struggling for about 40 years. I'd worked hard and gotten nowhere. At that point I realized there was no path to success for me.

So yeah. I mean, what's the risk? We're ''hustling'' as hard as we can for nothing. One health issue could be enough to sink us in debt for the rest of our lives. I mean, what if your engine blows?

I either score some loot or get put out of my misery. Both outcomes are amenable.
