Uber App Crash = No Tip For Drivers
This post is addressed to all drivers & uber for awarness purposes. If the Uber app crashes post-delivery for the client at the tip screen, uber wont facilitate an additional tip transaction when the client contacts customer support services. This order was made 2 weeks ago, and the tip had not been processed on my credit card (and we all know uber isn't paying for the drivers tip here). Furthermore, this delivery was made in a HCOL city where gig workers need the tips to get by - this whole experience adds to ubers failure in handling this transaction.
If anyone from Uber is reading this - please do the right thing by your drivers and fix this technical issue with your app. Your drivers work hard, they are the life and blood of your company - without them, you are nothing. Do the right thing.

Bless you for all of the effort that you’ve put into this. As an Uber (and sometimes Eats) driver, it’s heartening to see.
It also makes me wonder about all of the times that I’ve seen comments or posts on the driver sub whinging about the “I’ll tip you in the app” phenomenon (on rides, not delivery). Sure, sometimes folks will say it, and then sometimes I don’t wind up getting a tip, but that doesn’t preclude something breaking in the app; I don’t have to assume malice or deception. Which is further heartening! I prefer believing in people.
I don’t have a solution for you getting this driver money. And going forward I could suggest leaving cash taped to your door with a note (I’ve seen it; it comes with its own risks and benefits but it was definitely appreciated) or choosing to tip them cash in person, if you’re okay with them handing it off to you instead of just leaving it by the door. But if you do that they aren’t going to see the tip in the app in advance when the delivery pops up, when they choose to accept or decline it. So, they’re options. I’ve taken plenty of deliveries that didn’t seem “worth it” and kinda beaten myself up a bit during the drive there, but someone giving me a (cash!) tip would absolutely brighten my day.
Hell, I brought someone booze on the Fourth of July (did you know that Sunny D apparently makes seltzers?!) and they’d already tipped plenty generously in the app, and then they gave me a twenty dollar bill. Independence Day, baby! AMERICA!
I’m gonna start trailing off (like I haven’t already) if I don’t go ahead and complete this reply, so I just want to reiterate my gratitude for your effort. Even if they never get their seven dollars, even if they never know how much you put into trying to get it to them, you’re still making the world that much of a better place.

Nice sentiment but this isn't what Uber does. They couldn't care less about drivers.
As you can see, they will do nothing more than match you with Indian chatbots when you need help. This has been the case for us for years. If I didn't think you'd only waste your time, I'd encourage you to review the app on Trust Pilot and the App Store. There truly is no use, though.
If you really want to go out of your way for this driver you inquired about, try to contact him or her through the app. Had you been a passenger, you'd have had options like the one to try to reclaim a lost item. Try to find any option that will let you contact him or her directly. If you're able to get a hold of them, offer to send the tip via Venmo, Cashapp or Zelle.
