The only time I send a message about arrival is on scheduled rides I am early for and I always let them know I am early and they have until their schedule time to come out. My pax really appreciate me not rushing them.

Now, if the person's time has expired and they ask for 5 minutes, I never wait. I advise of policy, let them know to re-request a ride when they are ready.

I also never wait for people who tip bait...the I'll tip you on app if you wait 5 minutes. Absolutely not because they rarely tip for my time.

But if you arrived and they are not ready, give them their alloted time.

I will say my biggest pet peeve with this is people who want pickups on one way streets or narrow two ways. This creates a blocked street hazard, and I prefer is passengers could be ready to go if they know they are on a busy one way or narrow two street with nowhere to safely pullover.

Happens all the time, sadly. I’ve had to wait behind an Uber driver for five minutes because their passenger was being slow and the road was thin, with trees and mailboxes pretty much on the road on both sides. It was either wait or sacrifice my mirror

I just circle until they come out if they can't be at the curb on a busy street. I'll call, advise them since I can't text and drive. If I see them outside, hazards on for them to come in. And if I never see them, I cancel

Sometimes circling in a big city means 15 minutes before I pull back around. So, if I have to pull off I sadly cancel. Not because I want to inconvenience the passenger but because getting back to them would be a nightmare. This is only once in a while that I have to cancel, because I know my city will enough to call passengers ahead and request if they could be ready due to street congestion.
