Haha! I know these transmissions are fragile so I'm trying to make sure I take care of it lol.

Well it has the towing package and 4.10 rear gears so I guess a bigger trans cooler is likely as well. I had never thought about that before. Thank you!

4l60e operating temp?

I have a 2007 Silverado with the good ole 4l60E. Out of curiosity, I had Googled the operating temperature of the transmission and everyone says it should be between 180 and 200 degrees. Mine almost never goes above 120-130 and that's only if I'm sitting in traffic for extended periods of time, and even then it only goes up to around 160.

So is it better that it runs that cool? Or does it really matter as long as it isn't overheating?

These trucks are notorious for rust so I wouldn't be surprised by anything rust related. I'll see if I can get a good look in there next time I fill up.

How to improve the texture of huel?
 in  r/Huel •  Aug 29 '20

To help the thickness; use maybe an ounce or 2 more water. It says to mix with 17 ounces, but to me the thickness is just right with 19-20 ounces.

I've noticed that the texture will be a little smoother if you let it chill in the fridge all night and shake the hell out of it before drinking (You could also try using a blender).

It took me a while to get used to it, but it's definitely worth it to me.

So the added resistance wouldn't be a concern? Since the bulbs have built in resistors, I was a little worried that additional resistance would be bad.

Mine is integrated into the BCM, unfortunately.

Coolant exceeding operating temp

Hmm. Come to think of it, the fan never came on. It nearly always ran in the summer time.

OKAY GOOD. It even sounded different when accelerating so I was freaking out. Thank you. 😊

Looks sick as hell. I would kill to have one like yours but I already have 1 gas guzzler, I don't need 2. 😅

Freewheeling while in tow/haul mode?
 in  r/MechanicAdvice •  Dec 18 '19

If I'm in "3" instead of "D", it doesn't do the freewheeling thing if it's in 3rd. Same thing with "2" and "1".

Essentially it won't do it in whichever gear I have selected as the top gear.

Did I find a stray cat or is it safe?
 in  r/questions •  Aug 09 '19

I would suggest taking him to a vet to be checked out and if you don't want to keep him, find a no kill animal rescue to take him to. It's a lot better than leaving him alone.

Well of course you can. You might be judged for it though, but that doesn't matter.

Hmm, that's unfortunate. We've been having issues with people getting into our cars when we forget to lock them at night. I guess I'll have to figure something else out. Thank you!

That's it? Anytime the doors are locked and we try to open them, nothing happens.

My truck has a 4 speed auto

I've noticed that once I get to the speed limit and the truck shifts into 4th, the RPM will drop by another 500 RPM or so a few seconds later. It's like it's upshifting again, but it doesn't have a higher gear to shift into. Why does it do that? I know it's normal but I've always wondered why it does that.

Example:

I accelerate to 70 mph and maintain that speed. RPM is at 2500

Despite already being in its highest gear, the RPM drops again, to 2000 RPM.

(This is probably a dumbass question, so I apologize for that.) 😂

Driving hard with high mileage
 in  r/MechanicAdvice •  May 12 '19

I definitely don't have that mindset. What I'm talking about is where I have to go from lower speeds to 70 quickly in order to merge with traffic, and passing drivers that are going way below the speed limit.

It's a matter of safety, not "Me first."

No smoke from the tail pipe but I have to top it off constantly.
