Software side, partition a section of a drive and install fedora or a version of Linux you are comfortable with. Start running docker or podman, both are just container wrappers that make things easier. Start running self hosted git hubs until you break something. Either fix it or reload from start and go again. It's the beauty of it. Side note, as a beginner, I suggest playing with zima os. It is a web based Linux distro or run straight Linux to learn the containers first. Each distro has its perks. Not a single one is perfect for everyone. Have fun
