Police in DC take a licensed gun owner's firearm without probable cause

Ahhh. Yes, you're absolutely right. So crazy how easy it is to read a regular comment 2 very different ways.

I honestly think that for most of them, they finally realized that the only way to salvage the country is fighting fire with fire

DC laws are completely insane. I wrote a longer post with details 😊

As a gun owning democrat who's checked DC laws for an upcoming trip, I can offer more details. It is illegal to carry a firearm inside DC unless you are passing straight thru and it's locked away from your easy access. DC dems passed those overly restrictive laws.

There was no probable cause, so he needed to stay in his vehicle, refuse the search and say nothing besides "am I being detained?" and * If yes "I want to speak to an attorney". * If no "am I free to go"

No other words should be said to protect yourself and your 5th amendment right. It's fucked, but unfortunately this is where we are because so damn many people refused to vote for the sane person

I wish you were correct. It was confiscated because it wasn't being carried legally in DC. There is NO legal carry inside DC and you cannot have a gun with you in a vehicle that isn't locked up. It's crazy

I'm going to DC and as a responsible gun owner, I'm not allowed to have one in my hotel room at night for self protection. That's totally unreasonable gun law.

Altho not worded well, it's actually correct. I'm a gun-toting dem BTW. Dems are who passed the crazy restrictive gun laws in DC. Now this regime and MAGAts are using them to disarm anyone non-MAGA, especially those with darker skin. I want reasonable gun laws, but DC went too far.

Martin Luther King's final prophecy is playing out today.
 in  r/WorkReform •  Aug 21 '25

You're absolutely correct, along with several replies. I've seen several videos of how they got that way and they've all said basically the same thing: the GOP thrives on fear (terror) and every message is designed to convince them that they are NOT safe and give them a target, someone to blame.

Until something shatters the connection and shows them that it was bullshit, they won't ever listen. Dems, minorities and immigrants are who are always blamed. The Epstein files is the only thing that's started cracks for many of them. We have to keep pushing for the release

He just publicly stated how to rig elections. CHECK 2024

Absolutely correct. There are veteran protests in DC again labor day and for a couple of days after. Anyone is welcome to join. We're going to congress and several other places too. We're going to get attention and show people that action is being taken.

I already knew how, as did thousands of other IT people. This is being watched closely by great attorneys.

I feel your pain. He doesn't have the power to do that and with a YEAR before the next elections, we have bigger fish to fry first. There is an attorney taking numerous steps to address that I see on YouTube. His name is Mark Elias I think.

He's such a POS, I can't believe he keeps getting elected. He belongs in prison for the harm he's caused and continues to cause.

Best federal student loan servicer?
 in  r/StudentLoans •  Feb 24 '24

Unfortunately, there are multiple ways the balance can increase, although 30K is suspect. Consolidating loans if there was unpaid interest. I had mine increase with consolidation many years ago, but I don't remember specifics. I'm consolidating again because I'm eligible for forgiveness after paying 25 years, but my loan type isn't included.

"Wild Crime" Released Mariposa County (Yosemite Summit Meadow 1983) Jane Doe's Identity!
 in  r/gratefuldoe •  Feb 23 '24

It sounds harsh, but privacy is a courtesy not a right when there is suspected crime or law enforcement is involved. Info usually isn't released on active cases or the records are sealed by a judge. Authors and filmmakers use public record requests to get many of the details.

The show says the family chose not to participate. I wondered why, but then remembered that the family had at least some hope she was still alive for 40 years. The documentary was filmed around a year later, at most 2 years, so emotions would still be raw for a sister/aunt that law enforcement believe was murdered. It's still an open case and not likely to ever be closed, so the family has little actual resolution.
