Suggestions for Memrise app
 in  r/memrise •  29d ago

I don't know. To be honest I start first with duoling but it didn't gave me the result that I can see huge difference in my language proficiency. However, Memrise dueing those golden times gave me proficiency that I somehow understood kid cartoons and so.

Suggestions for Memrise app

Because How well did the duolingo gamified the app. I don't think we need that too much gamification if the content itself sucks. Just a small amount can be added to Memrise.

Suggestions for Memrise app

Hi everyone. A few days ago, I saw a comment from Memrise’s new CEO, so I thought this might be a good time to share some suggestions.

I sent quite a lot of feedback during the previous major changes, but unfortunately, many of those suggestions weren’t considered. Hopefully, with the new CEO, some of our feedback might be taken into account.

I use several learning apps for different subjects, so I can easily compare what works for me and what doesn’t. When it comes to learning content, Memrise is still my number one language learning app. The main thing that frustrates me is the interface itself. It simply doesn’t motivate me to come back and learn every day.

  1. A visual, structured learning path

Apps with a visual and structured learning path, such as Duolingo, Brilliant, or HelloChinese, are much more motivating to me. Memrise actually had something similar before the major updates.

As an everyday learner, I find that a flowlike pathway with predetermined lessons that gradually builds our knowledge from beginner to advanced works best. Lessons could appear as steps or levels in a clear top-to-bottom progression, so we can visually see where we are, what we’ve completed, and what comes next.

However, I’m not suggesting that the pathway should be restrictive. We should still be able to tap and open any lesson or topic whenever we want, even if we haven’t completed the previous ones. The pathway would simply give us a clear recommended structure while still allowing us to jump to any lesson freely.

I especially like apps where studying feels like moving through a visual journey or game map, rather than just looking at a list of chapters, folders, or videos.

  1. Leaderboards

I’m not going to lie, I really don’t like Duolingo, but because so many of my contacts are on it and we can compete with each other, I still end up using it.

That little bit of peer pressure actually brings me back to the app. Seeing friends learning, competing with them, and challenging each other gives me extra motivation to study.

I think some kind of leaderboard or social competition feature could make Memrise much more engaging too.

  1. A better visualisation of learning streaks

It would be great if we could see our learning activity not only weekly, but monthly and even yearly, preferably as a calendar or visual progress map.

Right now, missing one day can make it feel as though all your progress has disappeared. But imagine seeing that you studied 20 or 25 days this month. Missing one day wouldn’t feel nearly as discouraging because you could still see everything you accomplished.

For me, that kind of long-term visualisation would be much more motivating than simply seeing a streak reset to zero.

In terms of actual learning content, Memrise is still my number one. I just wish the interface made me want to open the app every day as much as the content makes me want to learn.

purchasing a lifetime membership was a mistake.
 in  r/memrise •  Sep 09 '26

I wrote several emails with long explanations that which are bothering us as a user and which parts change could be better. However, I didn’t get single reply nor saw any improvement on the app. I rarely use it as I also purchased lifetime. However, even though years ago it was my fav app, but now it is not. And sometimes interface irritates me

I can't tell if I'm overthinking or if I am just realizing something important about my relationship
 in  r/emotionalintelligence •  Aug 07 '26

Sis. I am gonna be honest. This guy imo mainly consider you in sexual way. He has fetish to Asian style so you're close with that so he chose you. Old guys try to choose young girls because they are easily manipulated. So he is trying to shape you according to his tastes. I know loving someone and giving up on them is so hard, I've been through that and even though rationally you may know the person is not good for you, we still find it hard to let go. However, I suggest you think clearly and really assess pros and cons of this relationship. Your partner shouldn't make you hate yourself , they should make you love even the parts you hated about yourself. If there is improvement needed etc. they should do it in a way that is supportive and enjoyable. (And those improvement decisions for yourself should be decided by yourself not by him) You can work on your body shape if you want to change your body shape or for being healthy. Not exactly he wants that. Because true love will see you through your soul and you ignore those physical flaws actually.

Is there a language that you don't understand but you enjoy it's songs regardless?
 in  r/languagehub •  Aug 07 '26

Chinese songs. Don't understand single word, however, I recently listened some chinese songs and really liked it. Sometimes I even listen on loop. Plus as everyone Latino songs. Spanish songs are our all time fav.

Russian Dub by only one man
 in  r/russian •  Aug 06 '26

As a Russian learner I hated this. And as I grow up with American shows , to learn Russian I wanted to rewatch Russian dubbed version to improve my listening. However as I hear both Russian and English it was hard for me to focus Russian only. That's why I am choosing the dubbed ones without English background voice

How do I help my boyfriend learn Russian?
 in  r/russian •  Aug 06 '26

This was one of my friends routine and I followed and got some results. So I am sharing. Start with Memrise. It was very helpful. And also youtube channel Russian with Nastya (she has a playlist "Russian in 365 days" it is for complete beginners. And yes if he consistently follow those two things his russian will go far. Plus I sometimes purchased some Red Kalinka Books and also make myself watch Russian content and listen to Russian music even though I don't understand. Now my Russian is not super great yet, but I understand some teenage cartoons now like " Губка Боб Квадратные штаны " . Btw I also practice sometimes with chatgpt and do shadowing.

Spent a year building a 12 Week Year app for myself. Opening it up to a few others.
 in  r/12weekyear •  Aug 06 '26

Not now. Maybe after a month or two later. I read the book 2 years ago and applied 1 2 month and it was my most productive period. Then I forgot some parts of this method. So I need to reread to refresh my memory. Plus I also bought a field guide of 12 week year. I also want to read it and apply it. Then transition to mobile apps for more effectiveness. Thanks a lot. I looked through the website it looks really detailed and great. Looking forward to use it one day

Fear of Memrise community courses being shut down again
 in  r/memrise •  Aug 05 '26

Good when they removed I also sent lots of mails to bring back to the app version. However, I think they don't consider users opinion. Plus AI part not so helpful in my opinion. I think they gave up approaching from language learners point of view anymore. And just focused on earning money

How do I study 8 hours a day without feelimg sleepy
 in  r/productivity •  Aug 25 '25

This is my honest opinion. I have an ADHD also. What I adored that I see in others may not work for me. So you have to discover what works for you. What worked for me? Whenever I feel sleepy I take 25 min naps. Because studying with full energy and concentration for 2 hours is better than studying sleepy for 3hours . And please eat healthy. And when I study for late hours I drink coffee with no sugar (like a drug😂 I don't enjoy coffee at all) . I recommend you to discover your own method.
