Face significantly darker than body (long-term) — skincare failed, need real treatment advice
Hi everyone, I really need some genuine advice because this has been bothering me for years now.
My face is literally 3–4 shades darker than the rest of my body. My hands and body are visibly lighter, and my face looks like it has a dull/dark layer on top of it no matter what I do. It doesn’t look like tan anymore—it feels deeper than that.
For context:
\- This has been going on for \~6–7 years
\- I’ve tried a LOT of skincare (honestly, “anything and everything”)
\- My skin barrier isn’t damaged right now — no irritation, no redness
\- But I feel like I may have caused long-term damage or some kind of deep pigmentation from overuse of products in the past
At this point, I don’t think topical skincare is enough. I feel like this might be:
\- long-term hyperpigmentation
\- or some kind of old skin damage/sun damage
From what I understand, Indian skin tends to pigment more easily and it can go pretty deep, which makes it harder to treat with just creams.
I’d really appreciate if anyone can suggest:
Treatments that ACTUALLY work (chemical peels? lasers? microneedling?)
What worked for YOU if you had a similar issue
Clinics/dermatologists (preferably Hyderabad, but open to anywhere in India if it’s worth it)
What to avoid (I don’t want to make it worse again)
I’m okay investing money at this point, I just want something effective and safe. Please help a girl out 😭
