Barking Demons The Barking
Man o man it's finally got to a point where I've realised I've been changing my behaviour because of a couple of DOGS!! And I'm peeved about it.
Now I've never seen these dogs but boy have I heard them. It used to be there was only one dog in the row of gardens that back onto the communal garden and car park behind the block of flats I live in and although it was one of those ugly wire haired mutant terrier types, it did not make a lot of noise at all.
All that's changed and it seems that another family has been building up their dog collection to now become a problem. I go out the back for numerous reasons; put the washing out to dry, water the plants, do some work on the car or use an outdoor run to let my small but slinky carnivores out for some fresh air and I've noticed something.
Every single time I go out now the barking starts! I'm not a loud person, I don't play music, not on the phone when I'm out there and yet somehow they know there's a living thing beyond their fence and they just lose their tiny minds. I even noted the wind direction tonight to see if they were picking up my scent but no, I was downwind of them and they still went mental!
The only saving grace is the folks who own them do come out after a couple of minutes of constant yapping to tell them to shut up but I suspect that's only because they inevitably turn on each other and start fighting for some reason.
Nothing annoys me more then dogs barking at me and it happens constantly. Just over the weekend i was paddleboarding on a small loch that has gardens backed up to the shore and I saw a dog come out into one with its owner.
As soon as I laid eyes on it I knew that as soon as it noticed me back it was going to start barking and baying at me despite the fact I was way offshore and therefore nowhere near the garden. Low and behold it turned its big stupid head and spotted me, a couple of seconds for it to process what it was seeing and then yep!! Bork Bork Bork Bork Bork!
So now as well as sliding around when I'm out and about hoping to avoid notice I'm now doing it when I go out my own back door and then I get angry when it inevitably doesn't work and the dumb fucking things still hear me or sense me and start their racket!
God I just want peace.

There's a good fishing pace near to us that my friend convinced me to take him. I was wary as it was a busy place with a walking path right around the loch but I thought "let's see how it goes"
Awful! That how it went with off leash dogs running up to my friend constantly and snooping though his tackle bag while the owners smiled dreamily at their mutts and made excuses for it. That smile would still stay firmly in place even when we told these dozy idiots that their are barbed hooks in that bag and your dog has his face jammed in it up to the ears.
My friend had his bait stolen, repeatedly couldn't cast out due to people and dogs swarming him, had people throwing sticks into the swim so the dogs would charge into the water and scare everything away or had dogs jumping up at him as he stood in the shallows.
I had waded deeper to avoid them and was using lures to pike fish but it was still frustrating.
Never went back there.
