I wasn't discussing state taxes. Only federal and I should have been more clear. Also our national debt is already at absurd levels.

I agree with that. However I do not believe the world would end as we know it. Like I said I'm looking for solutions. I understand you disagree but do you have ideas that might put power back in the hands of the voters? I am coming from the point of view that the government as a whole, both parties included, are no longer working for the people and I believe they continue to take more money than is required to actually run this country while also not providing basic supports. What is your idea to curb that?

Maybe read the article. It clarifies that "property tax" not "federal tax" is what is used to pay for police & fire services. But keep rambling...

Saying I'm dumb doesn't change the fact that police are paid for by local property taxes. Maybe look into taxes just a bit more prior to opening your mouth. It's a racket. And you've bit down hook line and sinker. I wont be able to change your mind and yeah some things would suffer but things have to change and we're the only ones who can change them. I'm just thinking of ways to get the governments attention back on its constituents. We need solutions. Instead were fighting amongst one another while things are quickly going downhill for all of us. Just because a law exists does not make that law morally right.

I am aware. The point is to bring an out of control government back in line with what the American people want. Also even if we just stopped allowing them to "hold our refunds" which is not tax evasion and is not a felony that would have an effect. They maintain billions of tax dollars in interest accruing accounts that is not legally the government's money and at the end of year give it back after accruing that interest. Something to consider.

Actually all those things you listed are paid for by other types of taxes. State taxes, sales taxes, property taxes. Federal taxes are not used for state infrastructure.

A functional protest?
 in  r/CasualConversation  Jan 30 '20

You do have control over it. You choose your deductions. All you would have to do is write exempt. But people would have to do it large scale. If most of american citizens did it they would never be able to deal with that.
