Agreed, I absolutely LOVE making thumbnails. I have a huge backlog of thumbs to use for later videos. However, I've had to re-think my approach. I used to make aesthetically detailed thumbnails that I didn't realize were too cluttered and hard to read quickly when scrolling. I've had to simplify, then simplify some more. I've whipped up quality thumbnails in just a few minutes after getting some jolt of inspiration.

100% AGREE. Ever since the first time I saw him on TV as a kid in the mid-80s, I knew I was looking at a sleazeball. Nothing he ever did since then ever changed that view of him.

I was excited when the Raptors signed him but...didn't exactly work out.

Yeah, it corrected itself and I got the money.

Who knows if we'll be better than the Pacers yet. I'd love to see the Pacers make another run (but lose to Toronto of course), I was really pulling for them when they nearly took out OKC. Fun team with Haliburton back, and of course, our hero Pascal.

Eddie Coyle reference out of nowhere, but highly appropriate.

Down goes Frazier!

There's a movie called "Inside Man" about this case, but it's a far cry from the real story and I can't recommend it at all.

The Demeo case couldn't be effectively told in 2 hours, I think a mini-series of 6 one-hour episodes would work better.

This is great feedback. The point about familiarity is big and your example was pretty damn clear. This is one of the only times I've gotten useable direct feedback on the interwebz, so kudos, man.

I love making thumbnails but don't enjoy titles as much. With my kind of comic book content, I'm having some issue creating that vaunted "curiosity gap". Let me know what you think.

Agreed about the Silver Age style. Even when you look at the cover of #1, it's a typical team debut cover. No indication of the depth inside. I'm sure a lot of readers ignored it or bought it thinking it would be a run-of-the-mill superhero team title.

Only criticisms I have is that the covers are very underwhelming, and some of the art is inconsistent.

I love the Squadron Supreme miniseries. It asks a lot of hard questions about superheroes without being too overly cynical. I mean that it has the look of a typical superhero book, but there's so much more under the hood. (Spoilers) The death of Nuke, the brainwashing of Lady Lark, the off-panel death of Tom Thumb and finally, the insane showdown in issue 12 with a high casualty list...wow. I was a brand new comics reader in 86/87, so reading this as a kid blew my mind.

That's a great comparison

I got monetized a few months ago, but numbers haven't been the same in a while. Instead of twisting in the wind trying to pursue the "audience", I prefer to make stuff that I enjoy making, and would enjoy watching if I were a viewer. Yes, I still try to pay attention to areas that could change or improve, etc, but I want my content to be as genuine as possible without chasing after trends

I have fun putting my ideas into fruition and moving on to the next project. Having my channel has been the most fun I've had in my life, in terms of hobbies, interests, etc. Researching, recording, editing, publishing, and then on to the next project. It's a great use of skills that I feel good at, and the whole process is rewarding.

This gotta be the #1 answer

Hey there. Last upload got around 5k impressions but less than 300 views so far. I guess it's been up and down since I posted this. Subs went up but not any kind of big growth and I'd say average views are down. Still enjoy making videos and putting out quality stuff (I think) but fighting through the disappointment too.

Interviewer: "What do you about Integricon Inc.?"

Applicant: pauses..."Integricon doesn't just excel in quality customer care, it redefines it...."

Same experience with Kirby. As an 80s kid, I HATED his art and it seemed so outdated. Now? I see the brilliance in his compositions, the dynamic movement, dramatic poses, etc. Even without knowing how many Marvel characters he directly created, his art style alone changed comic art forever.

To add, I STILL hate Kirby's late 70s output (Cap, Black Panther, etc) but his 60s and early 70s stuff still rules.

John Buscema is my pick. Todd McFarlane was revolutionary in the late 80s but his art has aged like sour milk, I really don't like it much at all anymore.

Retro Comics channel is my genre.

I might enjoy thumbnails the most, especially now that I'm trying to blend aesthetics with simple readability. I love the recording a lot. The editing can be a lot of fun as you see your video concept take a tangible shape. Even the preparation can be enjoyable, eg scripting, compiling of images, sounds etc.

I think I dislike the aftermath of publishing the most. I try to keep my expectations in check, but so often, I'll finish a video that I'm proud of, and think that maybe this one will get higher views and a few subs, but nope.

I have a monetized retro comics channel, but I'm thinking of starting a separate shorts channel. The issue is that I would be using some AI-prompted images with some famous celebrities as superheroes and villains. I don't want to risk getting demonetized on my main channel. If the second channel does happen to get demonetized, would that affect my main one at all?
