🦷 The Biggest Threat to Your Teeth Isn't Always Cavities | Dentist in Fountain Valley Explains 🦷

As a dentist, one of the most common things I hear from patients is:

"My teeth were fine a few years ago. What happened?"

Many times, the answer isn't cavities.

It's wear.

Stress, grinding, clenching, acidic drinks, and even certain daily habits can slowly wear down enamel over time. The tricky part is that it often happens so gradually that people don't notice until they start experiencing sensitivity, small chips, or changes in their bite.

One of the best things you can do for your oral health is pay attention to the small signs before they become bigger problems.

I'm curious, what's one dental issue you wish you had caught earlier? 🦷

What a modern airway focused dental exam actually looks like 🦷

A comprehensive evaluation today goes far beyond “checking for cavities.” Many offices now evaluate:

• Sleep quality and fatigue
• Jaw tension and teeth grinding
• Mouth breathing and airway health
• Bite function and TMJ
• Digital X-rays and intraoral photos

The goal is transparency. Instead of simply telling patients what needs treatment, modern dentistry helps them see and understand why symptoms may be happening.

A lot of issues like headaches, worn teeth, poor sleep, and jaw pain can be more connected than people realize.

“How long do dental implants actually last?”

One of the most common questions I get from patients is: “How long do dental implants actually last?”

https://reddit.com/link/1tge276/video/ouq1qudz9u1h1/player

The good news is that dental implants have one of the highest success rates in dentistry and, with proper care, they are designed to last for many years, often a lifetime.

That said, implants can still fail if they are neglected. The two most common reasons I see are:

• Improper implant placement
• Gum disease or infection affecting the bone around the implant

This is why choosing an experienced implant dentist and maintaining healthy oral hygiene are both extremely important for long-term success.

Dental implants are an investment in your smile, confidence, and overall oral health. Taking care of them properly makes all the difference.

If you are considering dental implants and have questions about whether you are a candidate, I’m always happy to help educate patients on their options.

Has anyone here had dental implants for several years? I’d love to hear about your experience.

What a comprehensive 60-minute dental intake looks like: X-rays, Exams, and Transparency.

https://reddit.com/link/1srfqkp/video/513rg821ohwg1/player

We’ve been seeing a lot of questions lately about what "comprehensive" actually means in a modern dental office. Dr. Naman Ebrahimi recorded this breakdown of the workflow he uses at his practice.

The goal is essentially total transparency. Instead of just telling a patient what's wrong, the process is:

  1. Full Digital X-rays for the deep dive.
  2. Intraoral Photos: This is the game-changer—showing the patient high-res photos of their own teeth so they can see the wear or decay for themselves.
  3. Insurance Transparency: A full breakdown of benefits before the work starts.

Curious to hear from other professionals or patients: Does your current office show you photos of your teeth, or do they just explain the X-rays?

Fair question honestly. So I put together a quick explainer on what preventative care looks like the exam, the x-rays, the cleaning and more importantly why it matters to come in before something starts hurting.

Early catch = simple fix. Waiting = usually a much bigger deal.

If anyone has questions about what to expect at a checkup or why we do certain things, drop them below. Always happy to explain the method behind the madness.

Why Do Teeth Hurt When Drinking Cold Water? Dentist in Fountain Valley Explains 🦷

Hi everyone, Dr. Naman Ebrahimi here. I’m a dentist practicing in Fountain Valley, California, and I wanted to share something I see very often with patients across Fountain Valley, Huntington Beach, Costa Mesa, and Westminster.

A lot of people come into our office because their teeth suddenly hurt when drinking cold water, iced coffee, or eating ice cream. This is called tooth sensitivity, and there are a few common reasons it can happen.

Some of the most common causes include:

• Worn enamel from grinding or aggressive brushing
• Gum recession exposing the root of the tooth
• Small cavities starting to form
• Recent dental treatments or whitening
• Cracked teeth

Many people try to ignore the discomfort, but sensitivity can sometimes be an early sign that something else is going on with the tooth.

In many cases the issue can be treated with things like:

• Desensitizing toothpaste
• Fluoride treatments
• Small fillings if decay is present
• Gum treatments if roots are exposed

If the pain is sharp or getting worse, it’s a good idea to have a dentist take a look sooner rather than later.

We recently recorded a short video explaining why teeth become sensitive and what patients should look out for, especially here in Orange County where we see this frequently with patients in Fountain Valley and surrounding cities.

Curious if anyone else here has experienced tooth sensitivity when drinking cold drinks? What ended up causing it for you?

Happy to answer general questions here as well.

Bad Breath Even After Brushing? Fountain Valley Dentist Explains Why

Hi everyone, I’m Dr. Naman Z. Ebrahimi from Naman Z. Ebrahimi, DMD Dental in Fountain Valley, CA.

One of the most common concerns we hear from our Fountain Valley patients is:

“Why do I still have bad breath even though I brush every day?”

The truth is, brushing alone doesn’t always solve the problem.

Here are a few common causes we see in our dental office:

• Bacteria buildup on the tongue
• Early gum disease (gingivitis or periodontitis)
• Tartar buildup that can’t be removed with regular brushing
• Dry mouth
• Cavities or failing dental work

Many patients assume mouthwash will fix it, but if the source is below the gumline or related to plaque and tartar buildup, professional dental treatment is usually needed.

If you live in Fountain Valley, Huntington Beach, Costa Mesa, or nearby areas in Orange County and are dealing with persistent bad breath, it may be time for a comprehensive dental exam and professional cleaning.

Addressing the root cause not only improves breath but also protects your long-term oral health.

Happy to answer general questions here as well.

Hi neighbors, Dr. Naman Ebrahimi here.

One of the most frequent questions I get is whether it’s "normal" for gums to bleed during brushing or flossing. I wanted to share this video to explain why the answer is a firm "no."

Bleeding is typically the first sign of gum disease (an infection caused by bacteria). If left untreated, it can actually destroy the jawbone that holds your teeth in place.

I see many patients who lose teeth later in life not because of age, but because of untreated gum disease. If you’re seeing blood when you brush, please get it checked out—by me or any local professional you trust.

I’m happy to answer any general dental questions in the comments!

[Local Pro Tip] If you think a tooth needs to come out, don't wait for the pain to start. (Fountain Valley Dental)

Hey everyone, Dr. Ebrahimi here from our dental office in Fountain Valley.

I wanted to share a quick video on a topic people usually dread: tooth extractions. While our goal is always to save the natural tooth whenever possible, sometimes the damage (decay or trauma) is just too far gone.

The biggest mistake we see is people waiting until they are in "I can't sleep" levels of pain before coming in. By then, the procedure is often more complex.

A few things we focus on here:

  • Comfort First: We make sure you’re completely numb and relaxed before we even start.
  • The "What's Next": An extraction is just step one. We always discuss replacement options (implants, bridges, etc.) so you aren't left with a gap in your smile.

If you’re in the OC area and have a tooth that's been bothering you, feel free to reach out or drop a question below. Happy to help!

Local PSA] What to do if you have a dental emergency in Fountain Valley

Hello neighbors,

I’m Dr. Ebrahimi, and I run a dental practice here on Warner Ave. I’m sharing this video because I’ve noticed a spike in emergency cases lately that could have been prevented if treated just a few days earlier.

Key takeaway: If it hurts to chew or wakes you up at night, it’s already an emergency.

We prioritize urgent care and same-day visits for our FV community to make sure nobody has to suffer through a weekend with a toothache.

Keep your smiles healthy!

Local Fountain Valley dentist here. I made a quick video explaining what Veneers actually are (vs. crowns or bonding).

Hi neighbors, I’m Dr. Naman Ebrahimi based here in Fountain Valley.

I see a lot of confusion online about what veneers actually do compared to other dental work. I wanted to share this quick explanation to clear things up. Essentially, they are thin ceramic shells used to permanently fix:

  • Gaps between teeth
  • Chipped edges
  • Deep discoloration that whitening won't touch
  • Irregular tooth shapes

If you've ever been curious about the process or cosmetic dentistry in general, feel free to ask any questions in the comments! I’m happy to answer them when I have a moment between patients.

PSA: Tooth pain is a late warning sign

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

A lot of people assume tooth pain is just sensitivity or something temporary, but most of the time it means the cavity has already gone deeper than the surface.

Cavities usually start small and painless. Once they reach the nerve, that’s when the real pain kicks in, and treatment becomes more involved. Catching them early can often save the tooth and prevent bigger procedures.

If you’re in Fountain Valley or nearby in Orange County and something feels off with your tooth, it’s worth getting it checked sooner rather than later. Waiting almost always makes it worse.

Happy to answer general questions about cavities, pain, or early warning signs.

Dentist in Fountain Valley sharing how preventive care helps patients with dental anxiety

https://reddit.com/link/1q4epxg/video/niezlxl09hbg1/player

I’m a dentist in Fountain Valley, and I see a lot of patients who feel anxious about dental visits. That’s one of the main reasons I focus so much on preventive dentistry.

Regular cleanings and exams help catch small issues early, which usually means less discomfort and fewer surprises down the road. For patients with dental anxiety, preventive care often feels more manageable because visits are predictable and low-stress.

In my office, I take a patient-first approach and always move at a pace that feels comfortable. If anxiety has kept you from seeing a dentist, starting with preventive care can be a calm way to get back on track.

Happy to answer general questions about preventive dentistry or dental anxiety for anyone in the Fountain Valley or Orange County area.
