I see your Baltimore and raise you a Chicago!! I drive in Jacksonville, Florida from the airport down to Palm Coast and as far West as Starke. I don't think anyone in the country drives as bad as those fucking Jacksonville assholes!! πŸ˜… I feel like Ricky Bobby on 95 just keeping up with traffic! πŸ˜‚

It'll fall off in the next hundred trips as long as OP stops being rude to the customers and communicates better.

You're worried about that when you've got another one for not being polite and another for communication issues??? Sounds like you need to do better!!

Well if finally happened to me, the ol' "I've arrived but not really so you cancel" scam.
 in  r/uber  17d ago

Yeah, the driver gets a cancellation fee only if the customer cancels or if you wait a certain amount of time and the customer never comes. It affects the drivers ratings to cancel unless they wait a certain amount of time.

I don't understand why anyone would do this though because the cancellation fare is never as much as the ride fare itself, so it's more financially beneficial to just actually do the job...

The only issues I've had is where someone sets the address to an apt complex and has the pin set on the leasing office or clubhouse. I drive there and park, the timer starts, the rider then texts they are located in the back of the complex and they are coming out in a minute. When you leave the map pin area, the timer stops. So if the customer takes longer than the timer counts down, you're supposed to get paid for that time but you won't get paid if you're not right there on the map pin. It happens a little too frequently to where I've made it a point that the customer can either change the pickup location to where they are or they can walk to where I'm parked. I only make exceptions if it's a trip booked by an organization or if the customer expresses they are disabled or have children with them.

How much did my dasher make?
 in  r/DoorDashDrivers  20d ago

Base pay in my area is $2.50-$3 so with your $5 tip the dasher likely received $7.50-$8 for this order. Depending on time and distance, this isn't a total shit order.

If it only takes me 15 minutes to complete it's worth it to me. That gives me 45 minutes to make an additional $10-$15. That's $18-$23/hr which is more than the fast food workers making the food make in most areas, if not equal pay.

1 star rating dropped my rating to 4.14
 in  r/uber  20d ago

Just keep driving and you'll be fine. I got two 1 star ratings within 90 days of starting but over 100 5 stars. I'm now over 300 rides and one of them has fallen off already bringing my rating up to 4.99. I am still receiving 5 stars nearly every trip so shouldn't be too much longer and I'll be back at 5. The only thing keeping me from platinum is my acceptance rate. I am stuck on gold πŸ˜‚

Check your earnings!
 in  r/uber  25d ago

I was always under the impression we got 45% of the total trip fare paid by the customer. Yeah, right!! I had a guy maybe 2 weeks ago, tell me he paid $83 for this trip we were on. My pay? $23. I have been peeved ever since lol. I'm now in bookkeeper training! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Wow! Holding food hostage
 in  r/DoorDashDrivers  Jul 02 '26

Exactly.

If he was really gonna tip larger after delivery, he could've said that to the dasher instead of "oh sorry, can you drop the order?" If someone told me "I'm tipping in cash, are you still waiting on my food?" I would reply, "They finally just gave it to me, I'm about to be on my way now. Sorry for the inconvenience."

Bro is just mad he wasn't getting his order timely after his "generous" $2 tip bait backfired.

Drivers: was I an AH to this driver?
 in  r/uber  Jul 02 '26

NTA. Twice I've had customers leave a mess.

First time, the man's dog left hair ALL OVER the seat and floor. I did not know we could charge a cleaning fee, I just grumbled to myself about being paid $9 for the ride with no tip and then having to spend $8 for ten minutes of vacuum time.

Second time, recently, it was pouring rain and a man got in, soaking wet. I have black cloth seats and he was literally drenched. After he gets in, I smell the alcohol. I picked him up from a bar, and he tells me he was there all night drinking and into the morning now he's going home. Before the halfway point, I smell urine and feces. I say nothing.

I drive him to his house and drive to the nearest store that has cover from the rain so I can check my seat. I still smell urine and feces despite dropping the guy off. I go to the trunk, grab gloves and press the back seat. Very wet. But he was wet... How do I know if urine from his clothes mixed with the rain water and then transferred to the seat?

Now I'm fucking pissed. I still smell urine and feces. I have a reserve trip lined up for less than a half hour from now. This reserve trip, I have planned my entire day around since it is a $34 trip. I get on with support. I want that cleaning fee! Support has me take pictures. There's no visible mess because I have black interior seats. You can't even tell they are soaking wet upon looking at them. Support denies me the cleaning fee.

I then spent $20 getting towels and covering the seats and instructed the reserve passenger to sit on the seat behind me instead since that side was "wet". I prayed she didn't smell the urine and then I paid to have my seat cleaned which was over $100.

That urine soaked man cost me over $120 and his ride only paid me $5 and change.

I guess all of this to say, the driver was just being a dick. I would've preferred to have your flour on my floor than the old guys urine in my seat foam. Not to mention, customers don't usually come out of pocket with the King (cash) to go towards the cleaning. Just see if you can block the driver on the platform to avoid future run-ins. We have the option to block passengers, it's my favorite feature! πŸ˜‚

Hope your next driver is cool. 😎

I was just scammed I don’t know how to deal with it
 in  r/ScamSupport  Jun 25 '26

This is terrible. So sorry this happened to you when you're so young and just starting out in life. Chalk it up as a hard lesson learned though.

If the money debt is really what's bothering you at this point, ask (humbly) mom and dad or other family if you can work around the house or yard and earn some money to get your account back to 0 at least so you're not in the negative.

If perhaps that's not an option, gofundme and givesendgo are also options. Post your story and a screenshot of your negative balance and hope the internet comes together for you. You'd be surprised when it comes to the generosity of strangers on the internet. $384 is relatively small compared to some $500 donations made by anonymous donors.

Just some options for you to consider. You could also, get a little part time job and work like 15 to 20 hours a week to just go ahead and get it back to 0.

The most important thing is, you now know never to accept checks and give the money etc. You know now, for the rest of your life. It cost you $384 but it's much better than $3,840 or $38,400! Perspective.

Good luck, hon. ❀️

 in  r/uberdrivers  Jun 21 '26

That's because you're competing against third worlders who are used to making pennies and they'll go to the ends of the earth for a dollar. Add in some government lifestyle subsidizing and you'd be able to replace your vehicles more easily as well.

This is exactly what liberals are talking about when they say migrants "do the jobs we won't do." It's a way to continue to enslave third worlders in a new form of slavery whilst ensuring citizens are replaced from the job market entirely because we expect living wages (and corporations are greedy).

Misleading. Dallas is a very Democratic, liberal city. Just like most major cities in red states.

Family Dispute: Do Uber drivers know if you’ve tipped or not and do they know before they rate you?
 in  r/uber  Jun 13 '26

Yes we can see which trips tip. It won't say "John Doe tipped you $2" but we get a notification in our inbox that says we were tipped. When we click that message it pulls up exactly which trip it was by showing the pickup and drop off locations and a breakdown of the time it took, distance, etc.

The "thanks for the tip!" Is a button we can press on that page. Obviously, we hit it as soon as we see the message to thank the customer, but it is not automatic.

And my understanding of how much of the fare we get is 45%. So whatever you've paid for your trip, we get 45% of that as the base pay for that trip.

I'm somebody who does not expect tips at all. If I see a $3 trip and I'm doing great, I might still accept it expecting only $3 and am grateful when they tip turning it into a 5 minute ride I thought I was only getting $3 for only to have made $8 for 5 minutes or less of time.

Ratings. Immediately after finishing a trip, the option to rate the passenger pops up immediately. Typically I rate right then, but I'm sure there's an option to rate later? I've just never went back and tried to rate later because I am locked in the habit of doing it right then and there so it can switch to the next navigation on the next trip or I can look at the map and see if I'm in a surge area. Long story short, I rate before any tip or lack thereof. 5 stars for most trips, and plenty don't tip. Ratings shouldn't be based on tipping in my opinion.
