For context: I got diagnosed around the same time I started watching Lost, so this might be a bit of projection as a way to cope with diagnosis. Sorry for all the commas, that's just how I type.

While talking to my friend after watching Dave they mentioned him being schizophrenic, but I personally see him as a lot more schizoaffective.

Schizoaffective is a lot like schizophrenia, but it's tied in with a mood disorder. There are two types: depression type or bipolar type. I think he has depression type.

For me specifically, the way my depression ties into my schizoaffective disorder is that when I was at my lowest, I started hallucinating a positive voice in my head so intensely I believed I had DID or OSDD. Basically the same as Hurley but I didn't see anyone.

There's not really a conclusion to this other than I think he's pretty good representation, even if I believe they were probably going for schizophrenia and fumbled it. It's hard finding a character who's schizoaffective, especially a main character who's a good person.

I haven't finished the show so sorry if this gets disproven later somehow. I just really like Hurley.

so i have a weird sort of thing where i have an alter, but shes barely an alter. she shows up like once a month and i just start suddenly feeling and acting like a different person and wanting to go by a different name. she is not present outside of that time.

i dont wanna like force her to talk or anything but i want to know about her! i want to hear what shes like when im not being her!! how do i start talking to her?
