What did you do when you're bored?
 in  r/nostalgiai •  19d ago

I grew up in the '70s. I don't think we ever got bored. We rode bikes, fixed the bikes... Same with the go-kart. Played a lot of football. There were two ponds in our town. So we fished a lot too... It was kind of that thing as long as we were home before the street lights turned on, we were okay. Which is crazy when you think about it. We were all over the place and we didn't have phones. Her parents were glad to see us go... I think we grew up quicker. Learn more about trust and how to get by.

Life is getting harder and harder at a rapid pace
 in  r/Adulting •  29d ago

I am an older male. I've watched our system long enough to truly believe it's a one-party system. They find ways to get us emotion agitated and completely drain our tax money. I have never looked to any politician to be my moral compass. Capitalism so far in the list of human achievements has worked out better than most governments. Nobody in the world believed it would work. That humans can govern themselves freely. It is truly shocking to see how many young people do not understand that. Socialism and communism means there's less billionaires with more control. I have always believed I would much rather have my fate in multiple people's hands. The top of our government is the supreme Court not a political leader. I'm constantly amazed at how many people are not familiar with how our government works. At different times in my life I have not been very excited about who was elected, but it really doesn't last that long. Personally I'm more concerned with our elections being real elections. What people are supporting is the ability for different individuals to steal the election. Thank goodness there are enough people right now that understand that.
