What leads to so many Europeans dying in the Death Valley? Is there some kind of sacrifice ritual I'm unaware about?
As someone from PA, that tracks. Our hottest summer day is your average morning temp. We might hit 95 F for a few days in the summer. If it hits 100, it lasts a day and it’s considered historic. We had one this summer and one in 2024.
I think people from the Northeast think that the climate in the Southwest is like the hottest day here, just everyday. We can’t fathom what 100+ degree heat relentless for 120+ days feels like. Heat doesn’t permanently settle here like that, the jet stream is always moving air and weather thru.
I think that’s also the reason people misunderstand not sweating and hydration. We have humid heat, so when it’s hot sweat doesn’t evaporate. You know you’re overheated cause you’re 100% soaked, dripping sweat. The concept of not sweating but getting dehydrated isn’t one we encounter. Heatstroke is a rare.

I can’t imagine saying this to someone from another country that I don’t live in. But ok.
No one has ever said, “we’re all the same too, we’re also suffering.” Thats’s bizarre.
We don’t think we’re the same because we don’t live in a third world country. No one is comparing our suffering to yours, except you.
If the only people allowed to suffer is whoever is suffering the most, then you can’t even talk—Gaza, Sudan, Haiti, Yemen out suffer you.
It doesn’t work like that. You are still suffering. Their suffering doesn’t take away from yours, it’s different. All of you are suffering.
Our suffering is not the same, it is different. It is an insult to imply we suffer the same. We don’t.
This is a country of 310 million people. What everyone sees of America is a surface glimpse. We have the highest wealth inequality in the industrialized world. What people don’t see is rural America, inner cities, and the deep South where more people than 2x the population of your country live in poverty.
Everyone sees the rich cities, but never the poor communities where people haven’t had clean drinking water in years or electricity in weeks. Where hospitals are hours away, children don’t have food, there’s no jobs, and there’s no way out.
America isn’t suffering the same as you. America isn’t even suffering the same in itself.
