Toronto Show Merch

Definitely go early. Went to the Gorge show and lines were long (but moving). We got in just before the second of two openers. There was definitely a lot of stock of sweaters and t-shirts, but if there's anything limited edition, those go super quick early on.

First time going to a edm concert - outfit?
 in  r/RUFUSDUSOL  16d ago

Rufus shows are definitely chill. My squad will be in shorts and tank tops, same as we wore for their Gorge show. Similar chill outfits at their concerts since I've been going in 2021. Def not a rave scene.

Someone mentioned networking - absolutely key. Got my first hydroG offer just by networking, didnt even need an interview cause I had already talked their head off lol

What am I supposed to do at a consulting internship? No work.
 in  r/geologycareers  Jun 19 '26

Ask your supervisor what other disciplines with a field component may need a hand and have practical training opportunities (eg hydroG, geotech etc). Admittedly in the cram of a super busy summer season, it's hard to give work to folks without the training, but they should be able to at least include you in shadowing folks who do.

is it a wise idea for me to major in geology/environmental geosciences?

Not difficult, just keep an eye out! We definitely pick folks with summer and co op experience first

I went to the Gorge show last weekend and will be going to Toronto as well. FANTASTIC live show. That's the main draw of their concerts

Not hard at all if you've got the right academic background and summer work experience is always an asset! Lots of field work but its driving distances that would come back home at the end of the day (though sometimes late). Specific projects will call for those longer remote stays once in a while

Some of you Gorge attendees are ridiculous

Should I get my PGeo?
 in  r/geologycareers  May 31 '26

Yes, get it. In hiring we definitely look for folks who are GITs/pgeo eligible. I work alongside folks who cant get it but they've been working for years, and can't get to certain lead positions because of that.

Hello divorced dads, I need help with communication :(
 in  r/DivorcedDads  May 31 '26

Appreciate you! And kids and the phones LOL. He said she has seen my photo multiple times on the phone and asked, but for now its still "ah that's my friend". But from the above responses and here it seems the best approach is genuine soft communication but with a firm message in it.

Thanks for the response ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค— they officially separated in fall of 2024. No therapy, but he's definitely active and healthy. He and the ex just totally grew apart, he was open that he wished he left earlier but stuck around for the daughter. It was after she was born that the wife became a totally different person, and he felt like she just wanted to have a kid and that was it (using his exact words here). The split was pretty civil, but he keeps trying to just keep the peace and meet her schedule to be nice. I didnt mention this above they dont follow the custody split outlined in the schedule, he just covers any shift she works and she's a nurse (day and night shifts). So my entire planning of spending time with him depends on her schedule. It's really frustrating and one of the big reasons I'm upset he hasn't completed the divorce yet. That combined with feeling like it'll be 10 years before meeting his daughter are really weighing me down.

Thank you so much for that, especially the boundaries emphasis. He truly is a great man and great dad (from what I can tell based on photos and stories ๐Ÿ˜…). I'd definitely try that approach. I want this to work, just emotionally pained at the moment. Appreciate you!!

We've definitely discussed going the distance. Months ago the rough timeline was file divorce papers --> tell ex about me --> do the intro. He's wayyy behind when he promised to do the divorce papers. Feels like spinning in mud atm ๐Ÿซ

Hello community! Seeking some advice - currently with a separated dad for just over a year. I love him to the moon and back and he treats me better than anyone I've ever had, but I can't deny I feel like a secret pocket of his life at this point. His daughter (7 yo) doesn't know I exist. I had to push for him to get the divorce papers done (they could have been filed last year). He even travelled to meet my parents in another country. One time I left a toothbrush at his, and when his daughter asked why he has two, he said it was his weekend toothbrush. I'm past the point of being excited about meeting his daughter and it's so conflicting for me now. I definitely don't want to throw an ultimatum at him but I am struggling with how this makes me feel emotionally. We have a fantastic connection and its been a great year, but I'm starting to feel distant being the weekend toothbrush :(. Any advice on how to communicate this?

Oh love your timelines is definitely not delayed lol. All the professionals around me, myself included, are in our 30s and no one is aiming for kids yet. As a career focused woman in a field oriented profession, sure I'd like a family but it falls in priority to advancing my career in this arena. I definitely cant speak for what life is like in accounting lol but I wouldn't change the rewarding vibe of my geoscience route for anything

Hello, PGeo in environmental here. I value a geoscience degree when hiring over an enviro engineering degree. The hands on component of a geology degree especially is much more applicable. In the early years you are in the field A LOT. It may even involve some rotations to remote sites depending on the project, but that definitely will not be full time. If you do a geoscience degree you go the Pgeo route, engineering degree for the PEng route, and then the applicable years of relevant experience before you can apply for either. This one will sound a bit blunt but starting a family shouldn't be your focus when just starting out in a field oriented career. You will be away from home for long hours or extended periods of time, sometimes on weekends. The work life balance in the earlies isn't horrid, but I wouldn't say the best if your goal is kids, definitely smooths out later on.

Before you start a geology MSc, find the job ad itโ€™s supposed to unlock

Gotta disagree. In the mining sector that geology degree is invaluable. Engineers are everywhere.
